Welcome back to 7th grade history! I hope you had a restful weekend and that you are ready to jump back into extraordinary history. Last week we learned three reasons why we should want to use our social studies toolbox. This week, we are actually going to start adding tools to that toolbox.

We’re going to begin by building some geography tools for our toolbox. “Geography” is the study of where things are and how the environment can effect history. We will have five themes—or five types of tools—in our toolbox this year, and we will learn four of them this week. We will tackle government tomorrow, economics on Wednesday, and chronology on Thursday.

Here are our GOALS for the week: - add geography, government, economics, and chronology to our toolbox - learn several new “empowering memories” and ways to solve problems - build reading and writing practice into every single lesson

In addition, we will be adding certain STUDENT JOBS this week! I will need two people in every class to help out handing back papers during the Do Now. At the end of class today, we will be applying for those jobs.

It is great to see you back this morning. Get ready for an awesome week!

Sincerely, Mr. Lindy Questions: 1. What type of tools are we building today? ______

2. Explain what “geography” means: ______

3. List the other types of tools we’ll be adding to our toolbox this week. ______
