Dear Parent/Guardian:

Your son/daughter is about to make some important decisions about their high school schedule for next year. This decision will begin to shape their future. One of the options that will be presented to your child is the program choices at St. Croix Regional Technical Center. Your son/daughter has an opportunity to explore a Career and Technical Education (CTE) field while still in high school. This option may have a great impact on their future career. In terms of new-job creation, 26 of the top 37 occupations currently require a CTE background. On average, CTE high school graduates earn more than non-CTE high school graduates do. In addition, nationally, more than six out of ten CTE high school graduates continue their education. Half of these graduates go to a two or four-year college or university. Our Center has advanced placement credit agreements with colleges within the Maine Community College System.

We will be presenting CTE program choices to sophomore students. Those students interested in learning more about our Career & Technical Education program choices are invited to tour our Center, and speak with our instructors. Our instructors teach students what they need to know in preparation for the real world of work, both specific occupational skills and positive work habits and attitudes. Our staff models the values we celebrate - diligence, resourcefulness, interpersonal skills, and dependability. The opportunities for bright young people with these skills and a CTE education abound.

If you have any questions or comments concerning a CTE education opportunity for your child, please do not hesitate to contact our staff at the St. Croix Regional Technical Center. We will be pleased to discuss any opportunities that we may provide and offer a tour of our programs.

Thank you for your interest,
