Susan Garrison, CHCA, CHC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, PCS, FCS, CPAR Current Professional Positions:  Executive Vice President of Med Law Advisors, Inc.  Executive Director of the Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators Susan Garrison is one of those rare people who can say she is a consultant, speaker, auditor, educator, and author. In her role as Executive Vice President for Med Law Advisors, Inc., she has attracted clients including solo practicing physicians, large teaching facilities, free standing Ambulatory Surgery Centers, hospitals, national associations, publishers, and over 100 other leading facilities and affiliated organizations. Susan serves on the board of directors of the Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators (AHCAE). She is also past president of the American Academy of Professional Coders and past chair of the American College of Medical Coding Specialists. With over 25 years of experience, Susan’s areas of expertise include Documentation, Coding, Billing, Litigation Support, Expert Witness Services, Revenue Enhancement, Revenue Cycle Operations, and Professional Communications. Susan is a member of the Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators, the American College of Medical Coding Specialists, the American Health Information Management Association, the Health Care Compliance Association, and the American Academy of Professional Coders. She holds credentials for each of these associations as well as being credentialed in Patient Accounting by the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Her prolific publishing includes hundreds of articles and 4 books. In 1991 she was presented with the AAPC’s Coder of the Year Award. Susan is a nationally acclaimed and highly sought speaker, having presented hundreds of educational sessions for professional organizations (AHCAE, ACMCS, AAPC, HFMA, AHIMA, MGMA), teaching university health systems, healthcare providers of all sizes, and payors. Susan is one of two speakers the American Medical Association has selected to present ICD-10 preparatory classes as well as their CPT Updates Workshops. Susan’s audiences include physicians, non-physician providers, residents, CEOs, CFOs, coding professionals, and attorneys from small groups to in excess of 3,000.
