Travelling Allowances for Members of Vocational Education Committees
Attending
Non-Statutory, IVEA Annual Congress and Standing Council Meetings.
I refer to the Department’s Circular Letter No. 26/69,F43/98 and 68/2006 regarding the payment of travelling expenses to members of Vocational Education Committees and approved Sub- Committees appointed as delegates to attend the Annual Congress of the Irish Vocational Association, and to inform you that the travelling allowances which may be paid to delegates who attend the Annual Congress, may be increased as follows. These rates may also be applied to attendance by members at meetings of the IVEA Standing Council.
Where conveyance by rail or bus is practicable, the allowance to be paid will be the actual expenses of travel, including in the cases of rail-travel first-class fares. Where the use of a member’s private vehicle is necessary, revised mileage allowances may be paid in line with the Local Authority rates, as follows with effect from 1 January, 2003 and 1 July 2006. Please note that in recalculating motor mileage rate payments for Committee Members, the provisions of Circular Letter F48/04 should be taken into account in the case of any member whose car on 1 December 2001 had an engine capacity less than 1,501 cc
