Job Description Classteacher

Responsible to: The Headteacher

To provide and facilitate learning that enables individuals and groups of pupils to achieve high standards and make good progress; to share and support the Job Purpose corporate responsibility for the well-being, education and discipline of all pupils in the school.

1. Prepare and teach lessons of a high standard to the pupils assigned to him/her:  following the school’s rubric for teaching and learning and the designated programmes of study (informed by the International Primary Curriculum – IPC);  carry out the necessary assessments;  monitor pupils in accordance with agreed school policies, and;  adhere to the school teachers pay and conditions – STPCD 2011.

2. Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies and demonstrate good practice in the classes taught.

Main Duties 3. Contribute to the corporate tasks of development, record keeping, monitoring, evaluation of lessons; and maintenance of materials and resources.

4. Contribute to the effective implementation of agreed school’s policies.

5. Work closely with and consult those who are involved in the child’s education and learning to ensure good continuity and progression for academic and social development.

6. Engage in continuous professional development in relevant areas.
