Description: This course is an integrated study of the human body in which the histology, anatomy, and physiology of each system is covered. BIO 201 includes the following systems: tissue, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, central nervous, peripheral nervous, autonomic nervous and special senses. This course has a laboratory experience that includes microscope work, observations, and dissection.

Required Materials: 1. Colored pencils 2. Text book 3. 3-ring binder 4. Note cards (flash cards)

GRADING: The following breakdown is approximate: Exams: 50% Standard Grading Scale Quizzes: 10% 100% - 90% = A Labs: 10% 89% -80% = B Lab Practicals: 20% 79% - 70% = C Homework: 5% Case Studies: 5% 69% -60% = D 59%-0%=F

ASSIGNMENTS AND DUE DATES All homework and lab reports are due on the assigned date. Except for an excused absence, LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Guest Speakers:

Students have the option of inviting a guest speaker to class starting the 3rd week of school until Christmas break. Only one speaker may be scheduled each week. There are not enough weeks in the semester for all students to schedule a speaker. A “Speaker Credit” may used to replace one test score with 100%. To earn the credit, you must show me a thank you letter you have written to your speaker and a stamped/addressed envelope. All tests must still be taken and you may redeem your credit at the end of the semester.
