MSC J. Wayne Stark Northeast Trip

January 11-20, 2004 Dear Prospective Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the MSC J. Wayne Stark Northeast Trip. The purpose of this trip is to allow approximately 20 top junior, senior, and graduate students at Texas A&M University to visit some of the nation’s most outstanding and prestigious business and law schools in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia.

This year, we plan on visiting the University of Chicago, Northwestern, Harvard, New York University, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania. This trip will allow you the opportunity to visit with the recruiting administrators and current students of the schools, as well as socialize with former students at various receptions and events. You will also be able to observe actual law and business classes, and tour the campuses and cities.

One of the major qualifications of this trip concerns your grade point ratio; we consider applicants who would be admitted to the institutions we are visiting. We expect students to have an overall GPR of at least 3.4, or in the last 60 hours taken. Student leadership and extracurricular involvement will also be a large factor as we determine the participants of this trip.

The cost of the trip is approximately $900, plus approximately $300 in spending money. The $900 is to be paid in two equal installments. The first installment is due December 8, and the remainder before leaving for the trip. Financial assistance is available in the form of full and partial scholarships on an as needed basis. Please contact Cliff Dugosh at 845-6790 for more information on financial assistance.

The applicant must submit all required documents to Cheryl Cox in the MSC Student Programs Office, Room 223, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20. We ask that you submit four copies of all documents contained in your application, including your bio-sheet, essays, references, and resume. The most successful applicants are those who convey a strong sense of leadership, character, motivation, and ability to succeed at any of the great institutions to be visited.

We look forward to receiving your application. Result letters will be available at Cheryl’s desk on Friday, October 31. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail Steven Duke at [email protected] or Cliff Dugosh at [email protected].

Sincerely,
