Child Wellbeing and Safety Amendment (Child Safe Standards) Regulations 2015

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 22 December 2015 Responsible Minister: JENNY MIKAKOS Minister for Families and Children

ANDREW ROBINSON Clerk of the Executive Council 1 Objective The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Child Wellbeing and Safety Regulations 2007 to prescribe Victoria Police as a body that is exempt from the requirement, under the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, to comply with the Child Safe Standards. 2 Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 47 of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005. 3 Commencement These Regulations come into operation on 1 January 2016.

4 Regulation 1 substituted For regulation 1 of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Regulations 20071 substitute— "1 Objectives The objectives of these Regulations are—

2 (a) to prescribe Victoria Police as a body that is exempt from the requirement, under the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, to comply with the Child Safe Standards; and (b) to prescribe the form of notice of birth under section 43(2) of that Act.". 5 New regulation 3A inserted After regulation 3 of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Regulations 2007 insert— "3A Exemption from requirement to comply with Child Safe Standards For the purposes of section 19(1)(b) of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, Victoria Police (within the meaning of the Victoria Police Act 2013) is exempt from the requirement to comply with the Child Safe Standards.". ═══════════════
