Job Description

Job Title: Information Adviser Department/Division/Faculty: Careers Service Campus location: South Kensington Job Family/Level: PTO Responsible to: The Information Manager Line Management responsibility N/A for: Key Working Relationships UG/PG students, All College staff, Careers Service Team and support Services staff generally (internal): Key Working Relationships Employers and Opportunity providers, Alumni (external): Contract type: Full Time Open ended

Purpose of the Post To provide an efficient, professional and welcoming enquiry service for users of the Careers Service, to book appointments, to update the Careers website, to maintain the dissemination of job vacancies via our online systems. The Information Adviser works closely with other members of the Careers Team to assist with the dissemination and organisation of careers-related information.

Key Responsibilities:

Enquiry Duties  Dealing with enquiries from students, employers and departmental staff

 Acting as the first Careers Service contact for students, advising them of appropriate information sources and, when necessary, referring students to the appropriate Careers Service staff member or relevant staff within other departments

 Working in an advisory role, working closely with students advising them with relevant careers information, advising on development of their CV and Cover Letters.

 Making appointments for careers interviews through the online booking system and keeping the electronic diaries.

 Assisting at Careers Service events e.g. helping to set up stands and helping with enquiries

Information Research and Writing  To research, write and develop content for a variety of audiences via the Careers website and careers publications.

 To work with the Information Manager to maintain and develop a current news section of the website.

 To work with the Information Manager to research, develop and update careers information resources (paper-based and online).

 Assisting the Information Manager in developing the use of social media and other technologies to improve the promotion of online information/services.

Office Systems  Maintaining and developing the Careers Service website under the supervision of the Information Manager. Job Description

 Receiving and disseminating employer vacancies via the online vacancy service

 Taking responsibility to ensure that the online employer/vacancy/event system is kept up to date and accurate

General  Assisting the Information Manager in managing hard copy information including the receiving and dissemination of bulk deliveries of magazines and directories.

 Maintaining general office administrative systems, including photocopying and filing and distributing post as necessary to support the efficiency of the office

 Working in a small team and supporting their work

 General office duties and undertaking other duties as and when required

 Keeping professionally up-to-date e.g. through AGCAS (The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services)

Other  To observe and comply with all College policies and regulations, for example Health and Safety, Data Protection, etc.

Requirements Essential (E)/ Candidates/post holders will be expected to demonstrate the following Desirable (D)

Education QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING Essential Degree level or equivalent E Experience EXPERIENCE Essential  Customer care skills developed from experience of working in an organisation providing a service to students and/or employers, ideally in an H.E. setting E  Experience of providing a front line reception/information service E Desirable  An understanding of the work of a Careers Service within Higher Education E  Knowledge of employers involved in graduate recruitment and recruitment practices E Job Description
