2017 AmeriCorps VISTA: OneOC

OneOC's mission is to accelerate nonprofit success, and will galvanize our partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to Feed, Clothe, Shelter, Heal Empower our veterans. The proposed VISTA project formerly the OC Stand Down, now “Stand UP for Veterans” program aligns with the Veterans and Military Families focus area. This VISTA project will seek to build capacity for organizations that are serving veterans, increase volunteers supporting veterans and provide an effective forum for veterans to obtain anti-poverty services, and expect to benefit more than 50 agencies, 500 volunteers and over 1000 veteran clients. Two VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as community awareness and engagement, financial resources, program development, volunteer recruitment and more over the course of one year.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, you will be part of the OneOC volunteer leadership team, working to coordinate veteran programs and to coach and support a cadre of veteran service providers and related volunteers. The primary goal will be to recruit and develop more and or appropriate service providers as well as highly skilled volunteers to refine, grow and participate in “Veteran” programs and initiative’s, bringing additional resources to the veterans the program serves. You will spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships and volunteer projects year-round. Additionally a goal for all AmeriCorps serving under OneOC is to positively represent VISTA in a variety of settings, including recruitment opportunities, meetings, trainings, and service events.

Member Requirements: • Service dates 4/28/2017 – 04/27/2018 • Full-time member will serve 37.5-40 hours per week for 1 year of service • U.S. Citizen (Veteran and or Military Family Members preferred) • Must be 18 years of age • High-school diploma (BA/BS preferred) • English language (Bilingual preferred) • Ability to travel to various locations for training and service (all expenses paid)
