1. Minutes of the last meeting missing. The one area that needed to be actionned was the meeting of the sub group for the newsletter which has not yet happened and will before the next meeting in November. 2. Hla Htay came to talk to the Group about his role as a Carers Ambassador. We discussed at length ways to improve the recording of a carer on the system, and the fact that there was no definitive meaning of a carer. His role is to collaborate with all local stakeholders in order to put in place the strategy plans for carers in collaboration with the Gp Program, Carers UK, RCGP and the Carers Trust. The plans are to find out the needs of the patients and their carers and to be in the best interest of the patients. This all started in earnest in March 2012. There needs to be a better system in place for Dementia and their carers and Mr Htay’s role is to give direction to carers for various problems. We discussed various ways of communicating this to patients and felt that the next newsletter and the website would be the best forms of communication. We also discussed various ways to record the wishes of patients who were incapacitated, and 1 idea was to include an additional name on registration as well as the next of kin, as someone that would be viewed as a carer and could have access to vital medical information about the patient. This would involve an additional section on the registration template. CG to discuss with other PM’s and EMIS to find out if this is possible.

3. The PPG was informed that the annual survey is taking place and that we needed 300 completed surveys – 50 for each partner. The survey could also be completed online. The results will be presented to the PPG at the next meeting.

4. Locality- it was explained to the group that LGHC was now part of the North London locality and that we had approved the working plans of 12 practices with regards to the ways that A&E attendances could be reduced. It had been suggested in the meeting that patient education may be the way forward and that maybe members of the PPG could help with this.

5. Health Passports – these are to be started again at LGHC and the idea is that for minor ailments, patients could obtain these from reception and go to their pharmacy for medication and advice rather than the GP. The minor ailments are - Athletes Foot, Cold, Constipation, Cough, Cystitis, Diarrhoea, 1 Earache, Fever, Hay Fever/Allergic, Rhinitis/Allergies, Head lice, Indigestion, Insect Bites/Stings, Minor Burns/Cuts, Mouth Ulcers, Sore Throat, Sprains/Strains, Teething, Threadworm, Vaginal Thrush, Verruca, Viral URTI, Warts. The practice will look into posters to advertise this.

6. The new Health Centre will be on the site on Penn House and this has now been confirmed.

7. Next Newsletter – we will aim to get this out around Christmas Ideas to be included – Carers, health passport, out of hours pharmacies. It was also suggested that we could sell advertising space or sponsorship to the local pharmacies to cover the cost. Collins are already interested.

8. The T+C’s of the PPG will be reviewed at the next meeting

9. AOB 1. CD produced a leaflet about myhealth London. Cg looked into this and we are already on this and it is directly linked to NHS choices. 2. DM had a consultation document – shaping a healthier future for NW London – CG to read and see what affects the practice and area. 3. RL raised the issue around the phlebotomy service at LGHC an he would write to Darren Jones Copying in local MP around the issue of only 15 appts. 4. The issue was raised about a Budget for the PPG – CG will speak to the partners at the practice. 5. Receptionists helpfulness/ lack of in the issuing of repeat prescriptions was mentioned. CG will discuss at the next receptionist meeting on Monday 6. There is a fault with the new EEC machine – CG to talk to HM 10. Date of next Meeting – Tuesday 6th or Wednesday 7th Novemebr 2012 at 6pm
