9) Medicare D On September 14, the Prince George’s County Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) mailed a letter to all retirees who are Medicare eligible. The letter states that OHRM is required each year to send out a Notice of Credible Coverage. In the 2015 letter the eligible retirees were notified that on January 1, 2017 the Medicare eligible retirees will be moved into an Employer Group Waiver Plan referred to as Medicare Part D. The plan will be administered through the current prescription plan administrator Express Scripts. The next paragraph in the letter explained how the traditional Medicare D works and scared the hell out of me. RELAX! Those that will be moved in to this Medicare D plan will still be under the county. There will be no drug amount limit. ($3700 under the traditional plan.) There will be no out of pocket expense of $4950. On the second page there are several bullets. You will still receive the same coverage. In fact, copayments reduce after the county pays for $4950 worth of drugs. You may now purchase 90 day supplies at your pharmacy, you may purchase brand name at the same price as generic, and you may qualify for “Extra Help” from the Federal Government if needed. There is nothing you need to do to enroll. Express Scripts now becomes a third party administrator and will be sending information before January 1. Only the Medicare eligible retirees will be offered these advantages.
