FIRST HOLY COMMUNION READINESS REQUIREMENTS

1. The child must truly desire to receive Holy Communion.

2. The child should be able to distinguish between the Eucharist and ordinary bread. A good way to put it to the child is: The bread they receive at home builds the body of the child. The bread they receive at Holy Communion nourishes the soul and builds the Body of Christ.

3. The child’s readiness for First Communion comes from the experience of participating in the Mass each week with his or her family in addition to attending religious education classes.

4. The child should know who Jesus Christ is.

5. The child gives an indication that he or she is willing to accept God’s word.

6. The child manifests a desire to enter into relationship with Jesus. Does the child understand that he or she will receive the body of Jesus Christ?

7. The child should be able to receive with devotion according to his or her age.

6. El alumno manifiesta el deseo de entrar en una relación con Jesús. Su hijo entiende que recibirá el cuerpo de Jesucristo?

7. El alumno debe ser capaz de recibir con devoción de acuerdo a su edad.
