Due to rapid expansion of ADIA’s Real Estate division, they are looking to establish a research team, based in Abu Dhabi, consisting of one senior analyst and a number of research analysts who will report directly into the newly appointed Senior Research Analyst.

Senior Research Analyst

Role Specification

The objective of this role is to manage a team of specialist researchers and to provide market research support to a range of specialist investment teams. The successful candidate will report to ADIA’s Global Head of Real Estate and will work closely with the Head of Real Estate Strategy.

Specific duties will include:

 Working with regional and specialist investment teams providing economic and real estate market support to: (a) characterise potential investment opportunities and markets; (b) assist with the development of appropriate underwriting assumptions; and (c) contribute to the development of appropriate local, regional and global investment strategies.  Working with the Head of Real Estate Strategy, manage the Real Estate Department’s subscriptions with data and forecast providers.  Working with the Head of Real Estate Strategy, manage the Real Estate Department’s relationships with in-house research teams in key fund managers.  Working with specialist IT support, manage the Real Estate Department’s database of reports, market data and forecasts.  Co-ordinate weekly market updates with the Global Head of Real Estate and Head of Real Estate Strategy and present at team meetings. Ensures third party market reports are distributed as appropriate.

Person Specification

 University Degree, preferably in Real Estate Finance, Economics or a related field.  Postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD, CFA etc) is desirable but not essential.  5-10 years’ experience in real estate research within a leading real estate consultancy, fund manager, research house, developer or investment bank.  Interest in and enthusiasm for real estate, economics and capital markets.  Knowledge of research and forecasting methodologies related to real estate, economics and capital markets.  Working knowledge of real estate and economic data sources.  Ability to use in-depth economic and real estate market analysis to underpin and challenge investment recommendations.  Management experience.  Ability to lead projects.  Good written and verbal presentation skills.

Research Analysts

Role Specification

The objective of the roles is to provide market research support to a range of specialist Real Estate investment teams as part of a pool of Research Analysts. The successful candidates will report to the Senior Research Analyst and will work closely with the Head of Real Estate Strategy.

Specific duties will include:

 Working with regional and specialist Real Estate investment teams to provide economic and real estate market support to: (a) characterise potential investment opportunities and markets; (b) assist with the development of appropriate underwriting assumptions; and (c) contribute to the development of appropriate local, regional and global investment strategies.  Maintain current knowledge on specific economies and real estate markets.  Attend and contribute to team meetings and exchange well-researched, logical views and opinions.  Discuss and review with investment manager’s regular reports on external manager’s investment strategy, portfolio characteristics and performance.  Each analyst may have the option of rotating within the different investment teams, probably for at least 6 months at a time (US, Asia, Europe, Global Hospitality, Global Retail).

Person Specification
