1. The student silently reads the entire passage, untimed. 2. The students asks an adult to listen and time them reading for one minute. 3. The student records the number of words read onto their paper. 4. The student records the number of errors onto their paper. 5. The student calculates the number of correct words read onto their paper.

Reading - Favorite Chapter Book

1. The student finds a quiet place to read (away from the television, radio, etc.) with or without an adult. 2. The student records a new or interesting Vocabulary word onto a sticky note and records the meaning. 3. The student records an Interesting or exciting part of the chapter onto a sticky note. 4. The student reads for 15 minutes.

For example: V - enormous I - Pete discovered a treasure box and a key! I wonder if the Very large in size key will open the box?

Spelling: Each week the following Spelling homework activities are due.

Monday Rainbow Write: Students are to write their spelling words three times each using different colored crayon, pencils, or marker.

Tuesday Word Sort: Students are to first sort their spelling word tiles

Wednesday Red, White and Blue: Students are writing their spelling words on white paper, writing vowels in red pencil, marker or crayon, then writing the consonants in blue pencil, marker or crayon.

Thursday Study with a Buddy: Students are quizzed by an adult on their spelling words.

Math: Most evenings students will have a worksheet to complete that compliments that day’s Math lesson. * Students should practice their math facts on Reflex Math at least once a week. They are welcome to practice more, or find another means to practice after their once-a-week Reflex Math has been completed.
