Trampass Bass - Brownsboro ISD - President - Welcome All Curriculum Directors on listserv were sent a google doc. The document is asking for suggestions for making our meetings better; hot topics that need to be discussed; things working in your district. Please add these to the google document or call/email Trampass or Leesa Green. Since we have so many small schools in Region 7 that professional development needs, we need to work together to get better training. Please open your training up and let other schools know. Discussion of Piney Woods ASCD. ASCD reached out and wanted to know what we were planning to do. What are thoughts on reviving the organization? The dues are only $10.00. Supporting state organization, great state conference, etc. We will discuss This more later.

Adrian Knight - CTE Coordinator Region 7 - resources - poster for nontraditional courses.Districts needs to look at their PBMAS report. Especially the CTE and nontraditional completion rates for males. Please pass this information to campus administrators so they can look at the master schedule. PBMAS report - CTE indicators - how are CTE kids doing on STAAR tests. Compared to general population what are their scores. Performance of sped kids in CTE on STAAR tests. Handouts on CTE for special populations. Great strategies. Modules offered for CEU credits. Please contact Adrian Knight or Tanya Hicks if you have questions - contact information on handout.

Debbie Terry - Pine Tree ISD - DTC coordinator - Texas Assessment Management System ETS has the TOMS platform for STAAR 3-8 and EOC; Pearson has the Pearson Next platform for TAKS, TELPAS, STAAR Alternate TOMS platform - Organizations is the first tab; dashboard will always bring your back to home page; profile will update information for DTC. Previous information has been loaded from Ask TED. TAMS tab will take you to Pearson Next. Help has some resources - users guide, data file, additional orders are there now. STAAR A and STAAR L will be paper only for the December admin. 1 guide for every 3 test booklets you get - test administrators guide. Similar to clarification guides that were given for the LAT test several years ago. Organization - have to type in portion of school name then click search. Organization Profile - address and district users. Users in old TAMS system were uploaded in Pearson Next system. These have to be uploaded manually in ETS. Need to review email from Texas Assessment from October 24th. This gives information about uploading new users. Users - View and Edit Users - have to update roles. Upload - file format. Spreadsheet template. Blue arrow under actions - spreadsheet will show what errors that you need to fix. Can do this manually. Students - Search - can see the students registered for test administration. Orders - participation counts - can view only see counts. Can download but can’t print. Additional Materials - can see orders Reports - organizations, students, orders. TAMS - two things you need to be working on now. STAAR Alternate participation counts due tomorrow - December 13th. Setup - select an action (top bar dropdown to select administration and organization) Import/Export Data Organization - Participation Counts - find organization - if you click top box will select all campuses. Can’t select task until select organization. Click edit on black bar - enter participation counts. Will see all grades - be sure you are putting in for the organization you have chosen. Manage Completion Status - enrollment counts entry complete. Will have to enter actual name to get campus if it is not same name as ISD. Have to click exit task to go to home page. TELPAS - choosing what we kind of file upload - PEIMS or upload own data file. This is a district process - not done by campus. Click save. Has to be done first week in December. Default is PEIMS upload. Technology systems and supports will find users guides here. On main page click administrators then look on right hand side for technology and supports. TAKS going to TestNav 8 in the spring. Pdf edition is users guide for Pearson Next.

TSNAP Not so New Academy - Carrie Barthelemess - Hallsville ISD - overall theme from TEA and ETS was “coming soon”. Academy has started doing breakout sessions. Session on Accountability for 2017. Sessions on ETS administration. Session on program changes. Ppt’s are available the TSNAP website under downloads. The academy will be back Region 13 ESC in Austin for next year.

Diana McBurnett - HB 2610 - number of instructional minutes - ppt QR code on last page of ppt - spreadsheet from TEA on how to calculate instructional minutes. If you have documents you want to share Leesa will post on curriculum directors website. HB 2610 does not change work days for teachers but could reduce student days. Can’t shorten a school day - 420 minute school day. No changes in waivers - possibly changes to waiver process in 16-17 and forward. Changes for PEIMS 16-17. Must keep documentation for 15-16. Show compliance. If the length of school day for 15-16 is changed, make sure IEP’s are adjusted. If you bank instructional minutes to cover lost days don’t have to apply for waiver. See number of minutes for professional development days. Attendance slide. Slide with resources links. FAQ document from TEA. Change document in Attendance Accounting Handbook. Need to look how waiver days count. As long as you are doing 4 hours of instruction is a full day. Have to look at lowest campus for minutes to count. The Leader in Me Program - Brownsboro ISD- Chandler Intermediate Had a bullying problem so they decided to implement this program. Teaches leadership After school clubs - 6 clubs - students have to fill out application to join. Students have schoolwide job opportunities. The Leader in Me addresses discipline. Set goals. Seven habits. Game rooms - PTA set up for them. Can get tickets for playing in the game room. Trip to Jellystone Park near Lindale - reward trip - open to all of the kids. Positive reward. Kids know what reward is. Every student keeps a leadership binder. Classroom jobs - called leadership roles. Kids are responsible for setting up own personal and academic goals. Student led conferences - had two last school year. Also do class goals - attendance goal- get rewarded for 100% attendance, goal setting for CBA, goals for homework. Kids set the goals. Teach leadership in their enrichment class. Discipline referrals have gone down, attendance up, etc.

District Hosted Workshops - Troup ISD - Tap and Think Reading (see handouts for signing up for training and flyer on CD site) Back to School Conference at Region 7 - Leesa Green - planning for August 2016. ESC is going to be sure holding four conferences in Nacogdoches, Palestine, Henderson and Gilmer. Looking for a 5th site in the northern part of region. Monday 15th - Gilmer, Tues 16th Henderson, Wed 17th Nacogdoches, Thurs 18th Palestine. Call Leesa if you need to more information. Virtual Back to School Conference - pretty sure they will have two windows.

Jacksonville ISD - Jodi Alderete, principal - Stinson Elementary Problem Based Learning - this in addition to what teachers have to teach in classroom. K-6th grade. See ppt for more information.

Question from Wells ISD about what benchmarks or assessments schools are using. Several schools are using district developed CBA’s. Some are using STAAR Released Tests. One district grading assessments on what they’ve taught and what they haven’t taught.

Troup ISD - Middle School - Engaging MS Students in Math - Linda Salgado AP All 8th graders take 8th grade and Algebra I at the same time. Monthly estimation contests. 10 stations. Parent volunteers to sit tables. Have in the gym. Brain based learning. Hand signals/gestures - whole brain teaching method. Many of these are teacher created. Don’t use a textbook. Have created their own. Math logs.

Holly Curry - Region 7 - TexQuest - texquest.net Will read and track. Level it. Good to use for any teacher.

DMAC - Anita Luff TAG - You are now able to click on green envelope beside a test item and this will allow you to send any corrections you find straight to DMAC. TEKScore - if you have TEKS-RS you are able to look for items for a particular unit test. You are also able to view which unit items have been uploaded. Student Responses - you are now able to preschedule test sessions to come on at a particular time and end at a particular time. State Assessment - Dashboard - only administrators can see this feature. Allows you to drill down to your data based different areas. DMAC is going to be adding the ELPS to both TAG and TEKScore so you can identify those in your tests. DMAC on-site training is free and unlimited to all Region 7 school districts as part of their contract.
