Georgia State University is a leading urban research institution located in downtown Atlanta with a diverse and growing student body. The School of Public Health is a CEPH-accredited program offering a Graduate Certificate, BS, MPH and PhD degrees with more than 450 students and 47 core faculty and academic professionals. Within the School of Public Health, The Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development (CHD) is a designated university-level research center. CHD is seeking an open rank faculty member to contribute to its current interdisciplinary efforts. Current areas of focus include research on child maltreatment and related phenomenon (trauma, substance use) and disabilities research, broadly defined. CHD has a strong focus on real world effectiveness and implementation research and focuses on both research-to-practice, and practice-to-research. CHD faculty and staff conduct research in homes, schools, early care settings, shelters, courts, community center, and other settings. The selected faculty is expected to bring a program of research to CHD that will complement existing efforts and add depth and breadth to the ongoing projects. Potential areas of interest are: neuroscience research, dissemination of evidence-based programs, implementation research, analysis of large-scale administrative databases, health economics, or policy evaluation.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Public Health, Social Science, Psychology, Social Work, Epidemiology, Medicine, or related fields. We seek the strongest candidate available regardless of rank. Applicants are expected to have strong records of scholarship, funded research, excellence in teaching, and university and professional service.

Responsibilities for the position include: Conduct a successful, externally-funded research program that includes peer-reviewed publications. Collaborate with members of the Center, SPH and other GSU Faculty to expand and strengthen research activities within the Center’s current research activities and programs. Teach courses that address CHD and School priorities in areas of specialization. Provide academic and research advisement to students—particularly graduate students. Promote and sustain interdisciplinary dialogue and academic service.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience
