SUBJECT: Meeting Minutes, USAWOA Audie L. Murphy Chapter, 20 August 2015

1. Call to Order. A quorum was verified by Audie L. Murphy Chapter President, Ms. Christy Murray, at the Chapter meeting held at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas on 20 August 2015 at 1135 hours.

2. Opening Ceremony.

a. Pledge of Allegiance. b. Invocation. Delivered by Mr. Devon Love.

3. Roll Call. No roll call was conducted. There were 13 members in attendance and 3 members who called in.

4. Reading and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes. Motion was made to accept the previous meeting minutes was made by Mr. Beau Tidrick, second by Ms. Terri Marshall. All members were in favor, minutes were approved. Minutes will be published in the ALMWOA newsletter.

5. Communications and Correspondence. Ms. Christy Murray stated that a Certificate of Appreciation and a Small Business Rebate check in the amount of $15.00 on behalf of Primerica Financial Services was received from USAWOA.

6. Announcements. Chapter President, Ms. Christy Murray expressed congratulations to newly promoted Warrant Officers and newly appointed Warrant Officers. She also wished a Happy Birthday to all of those with August birthdays.

7. Report of Officers.

a. Secretary’s Report. Mr. Luis Chavez did not have any new information to report.

b. Treasurer’s Report. Ms. Terri Marshall read the financial report. A motion was made to accept the report by Mr. Beau Tidrick, second by Ms. Anita Dickens. All members were in favor, report was approved.

Operating Funds: $2,573.26 FY16 AMM Funds: $283.00 Scholarship Funds: $1,107.00 Account Total: $3963.26

c. Vice President’s Report. Ms. Melissa Harden was not present.

d. President’s report. Ms. Christy Murray reminded members to review their membership standing and asked them to seek out and encourage other Warrant Officers to become active members of the Chapter. She stated that Ms. Julie Bryant is looking for good news stories, photos, and information to publish in our Monthly Newsletter. Additionally, she stated that she would like to include WOC names and graduation dates in order to show our support and encourage newly appointed Warrants to become active members of our Chapter. 8. New Members. Chapter President Ms. Christy Murray did extend a warm welcome to new member WO1 Laural Levine.

9. Introduction of Guests. Chapter President Ms. Christy Murray welcomed WOC Ms. Rachael Colter to the ALMWOA meeting.

10. Committee Reports.

a. Membership Committee. Mr. Devon Love stated that ALMWOA stands at 114 members as of 18 August 2015. He also stated that the free membership offered to newly appointed Warrants has been reduced from 24 months to 18 months.

b. Scholarship Committee. Mr. Jeffrey Felton – No additional information needed at this time.

c. Historic Committee. Ms. Satina Saxby was not present.

d. Benevolence Committee. Mr. Devon Love stated that he is not aware of anyone in distress or in need of assistance at this time. Additionally, Ms. Christy Murray stated that assistance can be provided in a private manner.

e. Awards Committee. Ms. Anita Dickens stated that the President’s Certificates of Appreciation are now ready and will be awarded to four individuals for their support to the ALMWOA with the NGAT event and that the certificates are numbered for tracking purposes. She asked member for names of individuals, businesses or organizations who have supported ALMWOA and stated that it is important that we express our gratitude for their support

f. Social Events Committee. – Mr. Bryan Shaw did not have any new information to report.

(1) Greet and Congratulate: Ms. Minette Hatt was not present.

(2) NGAT: Ms. Terri Marshall did not have any new updates.

(3) American Heroes: Ms. Anita Dickens did not have any new updates.

(4) WO Birthday: Mr. Beau Tidrick did not have any new updates.

(5) Holiday Events: No new updates provided.

(6) Fun Run/Walk Charity Events: Ms. Julie Bryant was not present.

g. Community Awareness/Outreach Committee. – Ms. Katherine Brown did not have any new updates.

(1) Special Olympics: Ms. Liz Brite was not present.

(2) Blood Drives: Mr. Vicente Cedillos stated that the ALMWOA sponsored blood drive held on 18 August 2015 was a success; 22 individuals donated blood and he thanked everyone for their support. He stated that the next blood drive will be scheduled for early November. Ms. Christy Murray suggested that an email be sent to all who participated thanking them for their support. Additionally, she stated that the Central Texas blood bank approaches us anytime blood supplies are low speaks volumes of our organization. Mr. Beau Tidrick suggested sponsoring a blood during American Heroes weekend.

(3) Habitat for Humanity: Ms. Arsilia Perez was not present; however, Ms. Christy Murray stated that Ms. Arsilia Perez is coordinating a volunteering event. USAWOA-ALM SUBJECT: Meeting Minutes, USAWOA Audie L. Murphy Chapter, 20 August 2015

(4) Community Support: Ms. Lakeshia Marshall was not present; however, Ms. Christy Murray stated that the previously held volunteer event for the Austin Food bank was a success and asked Mr. Luis Chavez to contact her for an update on upcoming events.

(5) Operation Holidays: Mr. Luis Chavez did not have any new updates.

h. Mentorship / Professional Development. Mr. Earnest Metcalf did not have any additional information at this time.

11. Unfinished Business.

a. Memorabilia. Mr. Devon Love stated that WO Coins are still available for $8.00 and that they would also be offered during the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Members in Orlando, Florida

b Golf Tournament. Mr. Frank Hinnant stated that the golf tournament is scheduled for October 24t and that a flyer with the 5 Ws will be available soon.

c. Chapter Recruiting Drive – Mr. Beau Tidrick did not provide an update.

d. 44th Annual Meeting of the Members (2016) Committee: Ms. Christy Murray stated that our next OPT will be 27 August 2015 and that Ms. Terri Marshall would soon have the sponsorship packets ready for distribution. She also encouraged members to support the fund raiser car wash to be held at Central Texas Harley Davidson in Round Rock on 29 August 2015 and passed out a duty roster for members to sign up for specific tasks and times. Mr. Frank Hinnant suggested a drawing for a rifle and sponsoring a bicycle ride as fund raising events. Ms. Katherine Brown suggested a drawing for a $500 visa.

12. New Business. No new business was brought before the Chapter.

13. Good of the Order. Ms. Christy Murray encouraged members to support our Warrant Officer Candidates during their car wash, ruck march, and victory run on 22-23 August 2015 at Camp Mabry; she reiterated the importance of showing support to our future Warrants and to set an example of commitment to the Warrant Officer Corp. Ms. Murray congratulated and thanked future TAC Officers Mr. Frank Hinnant and Ms. Patricia Crawson for their willingness to give back to the Warrant Officer Corp. Additionally, Ms. Christy Murray announced that the Warrant Officer Spouses Auxiliary has been established and that it is important to include spouses in our endeavors. She quoted USAWOA President Greg Gouty “this will be a positive force in the Warrant Officer community.”

14. Adjournment. Mr. Beau Tidrick made a motion to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Ms. Anita Dickens. Meeting adjourned at 1226 hours after all Chapter business was completed. Next meeting will be conducted on 17 September 2015 at 1130, at Camp Mabry BLDG 8, Room A123 or Bldg 75 if available.
