Comparative World Religion Independent Study

Goal: To study a religion of the world that we are not going to study in class.

These religions are studied from the same perspective:

Beginnings (20%) Historical development (20%) Sacred Writings (10%) Beliefs, practices, and values (20%) Impact on history, culture, contemporary issues and the arts (20%) Bibliography (10%)

Class One: Choose a religion from the list below to research. Your choice must be approved by me.

Class Two: Research the beginnings of the religion you have chosen.

You should include the following info:

 Who founded the religion?  Who or what is the religion based on?  What is the creation (of the world) myth?  Other information specific to that religion that pertains to the “beginning”  Bibliography

A grade of zero will be assigned any section that does not have a bibliography.

The “Beginnings” (with bibliography) is Due October 15, 2014 at the beginning of class. No exceptions. List of Possible Religions
