December 6, 2010,

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Students in the sixth grade have been studying the ancient civilization of Egypt. This includes the Egyptians achievements in art, literature, science, government, language, architecture and their effect on modern civilization. Since sixth grade participates in a core knowledge study of Ancient Egypt, they will participate in preparing an Egyptian festival for all their fellow classmates.

Our Egyptian feast is scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2010. Each student will be asked to contribute a dish and/or supply for the Egyptian feast. Attached is a list of foods that can be brought in. Please fill out the section below to let you teacher know what you will be bringing. Any amount that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. Should you want to volunteer your time, please fill out the attached form and have your child return it to their social studies teacher. We look forward to sharing a wonderful culture and experience with your child.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs. De La Cruz, Mrs. Gabaldon, Mrs. Keller, and Ms. Nuez 6th grade LA/SS team Dorothy McElhinney Middle School
