DIRECTOR OF EVENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce is seeking a talented, creative and motivated individual for the position of Director of Events and Communications. The successful candidate for this full-time, exempt position will be responsible for the successful development and execution of the Chamber’s signature events including the Reverse Raffle, Golf Tournament, Member Social/Auction, Job Fair, Technology Expo, and Annual Meeting as well as the coordination of the Chamber’s Travel Program, OBX Cash program, and Chairman’s Club program. The position is also responsible for the Chamber’s website management, social media management, membership management software coordination, press releases, e-newsletters and photography/videography.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

- Ability to work with volunteer committees on events and programs

- Ability to work independently; must be a self-starter

- Understanding of budgets and their successful outcomes

- Good communication skills/ collaborative style

- Must be able to handle multiple priorities on a daily basis

- Event experience including sponsorship sales

- Experience with website management including banner ads and content management

- Social Media management experience

- Membership management software or database management experience

- Proficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint as well as Adobe Photoshop, Video editing software and a sense of Graphic Design

- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Business Administration or similar field and experience

- Knowledge of Non-Profits

- Chamber of Commerce experience a plus.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; candidate must have flexibility to work earlier and later hours as needed to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Salary & Benefits: Salary range is $35,000-$45,000 per year; salary will be commensurate with experience. Health Insurance is provided after 30 days of employment; Simple 401K eligibility after one year of service. Vacation days are earned after the first 90 days of employment. The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based organization with a current membership of 1,050 businesses and organizations. The Chamber serves the Outer Banks region including Dare County, Currituck County and Ocracoke Island and is the only CACCE (Carolina Chamber of Commerce Executives) accredited chamber in the region.
