D E P A R T M E N T O F H E A L T H A N D F A M I L I E S Move your career into new territory… The Mobile Outreach Service Plus (MOS Plus) provides therapeutic counselling and educational services to remote Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory to help children heal from trauma relating to abuse and neglect as well as building community capacity to prevent child abuse and neglect. Being part of the MOS Plus team provides a unique opportunity for energetic, seasoned practitioners to expand their professional skills. Just as each remote Aboriginal community is distinct, each day with MOS Plus is different as it delivers various therapeutic services to all corners of the Northern Territory. Flexibility and stamina is necessary as overnight stays in remote communities and travel in 4 wheel drive vehicles and/or light aircraft is required. MOS Plus Counsellors and Aboriginal Therapeutic Resource Officers bring their combined expertise to provide a culturally informed, appropriate and dynamic service to children, their families and community. Positions with MOS Plus COUNSELLOR Professional 2 ($66,100 – $80,137) salary range (Employment package in the vicinity of $84,000) Darwin and Alice Springs This includes professional development allowance, superannuation, 6 weeks recreation leave and annual leave bonus (Employment package in the vicinity of $104,000) Tennant Creek This includes professional development allowance, superannuation, remote locality benefits, 6 weeks recreation leave and annual leave bonus Mobile Outreach Service Plus Four temporary vacancies to 30 June 2012 are available, two in Darwin, one in Alice Springs and one in Tennant Creek We are seeking experienced and suitably qualified counsellors to work in conjunction with our Aboriginal Therapeutic Resource Officers to provide therapeutic counselling and support to children in remote Aboriginal communities who have experienced trauma as a result of child abuse and neglect. This role also requires the provision of education, information, training and professional development to children, families and service providers to enable capacity building within the communities. This is a great opportunity for those practitioners seeking a more holistic role, working in partnerships and servicing remote communities. Applicants must have a relevant degree level qualification and be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or the Australian Psychological Society or have another degree level qualification deemed relevant by the department.
