Focus on Fish Health Photo Contest A Photo Contest for Great Lakes Region Fishing and Boating Enthusiasts

We’d like to see and share your favorite fishing and boating photos.

USDA APHIS’ Focus on Fish Health campaign invites you to enter the 2010 Focus on Fish Health photo contest. You can compete in three categories: 1. Best looking Catch 2. Best Boaters on the Waterway 3. Family Fun Fishing or Boating We are especially interested in photos of people doing their part to protect the fish and other aquatic life in our scenic lakes, rivers and waterways.

There will be one winner chosen in each category each month for a three month period beginning in June 2010. All photos submitted will be featured on the Focus on Fish Health website in the month following the selection and some may be featured as screen savers. Winners will also receive a Focus on Fish Health Duffle Bag.

Your photos should accurately reflect the subject matter, and the main image should not be digitally altered beyond removing dust, cropping, cleaning up the background and making reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast.

All photos will be credited with the person’s name.

How to Enter Send your photos (maximum of three per person) via e-mail to FocusOnFishHealth.org along with a submission form (clickable). Photos without a submission form will not be considered for the contest or for use on the website. See Submission Guidelines (clickable) for specifics.

Submission Guidelines Submitted images must be in color and each should be no larger than a 2 mgb. file in jpg format. Photos must be submitted via e-mail to www.FocusOnFishHealth.org with the phrase Photo Submission in the subject line, and a completed photo submission form must accompany photos. Photos submitted without a form will not be considered.

Participants may submit a maximum of 3 photos totally.

Photos must be the work of the person submitting (unless a parent or other responsible adult is submitting for a minor), and the photographer must own all rights to the works submitted. The photographer retains ownership of all submitted images. By submitting your photos you are granting USDA/APHIS the right to reproduce, display and publish your images without compensation.

Deadlines The deadline for submitting entries for each of the three months is June 30, July 31 and August 31, 2010.

Judging Judging will be done by USDA/APHIS public affairs staff members including the USDA/APHIS photographer. Decisions will be made by the first week of July, August and September and the winner will be notified at that time.

Images will be judged on overall impact, composition, technical quality and artistic merit. More than one winner may be selected. Winner(s) will be notified by e-mail.

USDA/APHIS reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the photo competition.
