Discussion Points/Overview of Conversation:

1. Melissa Sommer, SNA Executive Committee Member, began the meeting.

2. The NKY Health Department is continuing to provide free Hep C blood tests. The flyer with more information is on the Resource Page on the Safety Net Alliance website.

3. Goodwill HRVP has supportive services for veteran families starting October 1st. If any member of the family is/was in the military you can receive these services.

4. The Women’s Crisis Center will have a Human Trafficking seminar on January 30th at NKU. More information to follow.

5. Vineyard has changed their choice pantry hours. As of November 1st 2012, the pantry will be open the first Thursday at 10am until 1pm. And dinner will be served the third Thursday at 6:30pm.

6. Safelink; Bill Bramble

 Federally supported.  One free cell phone with 250 free minutes per month.  For people who are low income and qualify for things such as; foot stamps, social security, disability, ect.  Have to be age 18 or have a guardian.  You can apply online, through the mail, or reps are available to come to your agency.  You can contact Bill Bramble at [email protected]

7. Kidz Club; Eric Sis  This is a daycare for medically fragile children.  Exclusively funded by Medicade.  Kidz Club works like a daycare and has nurses on site.  There are two facilities in NKY. One in Erlanger, and one in Florence.  They will provide transportation within a 50 mile radius.  There will be an assessment of the child.  Operation times are 6am to 6pm.  Legally, Kidz Club can have children from 6 months to 21 years of age. 8. Food Committee  Paul Grottbrath is coordinating a holiday meat order for the agencies in the area. If you are interested in participating, e-mail Paul at [email protected]  The Giving Fields has plenty of produce available. It will run until the end of October. There was 138,000 pounds of produce this year.  The Freestore Foodbank turned over the donations from the Cold Spring and Florence Meijers to the SNA Food Committee.  The food resource list is still in the works, an interactive map with bus routes to food pantries will be made.

9. Website Committee  The SNA Website Committee has an issue tracker spreadsheet and is working on the “bugs” of the Safety Net Alliance website.  The four completed “Pathways” can be found on the Resource page on the Safety Net Alliance website. The next two that are almost finished is, subsidized housing connections, and connecting to shelters.  The beta test has shown that there is an increase in activity on the SNA website since last July.
