McCOY ROAD” AND TO 16 ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG THIS 17 PORTION OF HIGHWAY CONTAINING THIS 18 DESIGNATION. 19 20 Whereas, retired United States Air Force Major General Gary T. 21 McCoy is a native of Chester County and was the valedictorian of 22 Finley High School class of 1969; and 23 24 Whereas, in 1975 he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from 25 CulverStockton College and in 1979 earned a Master of Arts 26 degree from the University of Redlands; and 27 28 Whereas, his military awards and decorations include the 29 Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf 30 Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, 31 Meritorious Service Medal with Silver and Bronze Oak Leaf 32 Clusters, and Air Force Commendation with Oak Leaf Clusters; 33 and 34 35 Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to recognize the many 36 achievements of this distinguished son of South Carolina by 37 having a portion of South Carolina Highway 9 named in his honor. 38 Now, therefore, 39 40 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 41 concurring: 42

[3507] 2 1 That members of the General Assembly request the Department of 2 Transportation name the portion of South Carolina Highway 9 in 3 Chester County from its intersection with Pilgrim Road to the 4 Chester/Union County Line “Major General Gary T. McCoy 5 Road” and erect appropriate markers or signs along this portion of 6 highway containing this designation. 7 8 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 9 the Department of Transportation. 10 XX 11
