 Getting Promoted for Your Teaching (Room: E429A) Have you ever thought about getting promoted for "excellence in teaching?" Are you a great teacher? Do you teach a lot? Maybe you have even received teaching awards from our students and residents. This workshop is about making the teaching you do count. In order to use excellence in teaching as a focus for promotion, you need to 1) show evidence of the quality of your teaching; 2) develop a strong teaching portfolio; and 3) acquire a regional/national/international reputation for your teaching. During this workshop we will discuss how to approach each of these 3 important components for promotion for your teaching. Terry Wolpaw, MD, MHPE Amy Wilson-Delfosse, PhD, Assistant Dean for Basic Science Education, University Track Daniel R. Wolpaw, MD

 Teaching in Teams and Small Groups, Finding Our Faculty Role : Opportunities, Methods & Strategies (Room: E429B) Many faculty members are uncertain about their role when it comes to small group and team learning. Mostly educated under an “expert system”, faculty often feel much more comfortable sharing expertise through lectures than facilitating student learning through inquiry methods and application exercises. This workshop will provide an opportunity for open discussion about changing roles, goals and responsibilities when facilitating team and small group learning. Christine Taylor, PhD, Director of Faculty Development, College Track

 Publishing Your Teaching Innovations (Room: E430A) Getting your work in medical education and teaching published is important. This workshop is intended for educators interested in publishing educational innovations in peer-reviewed literature. We will discuss several key criteria for writing up a manuscript of your innovation and increasing the likelihood of getting it accepted for publication. Klara Papp, PhD, Director, Center for the Advancement of Medical Learning, University Track Beth Bierer, PhD, Director of Evaluation, College Track

 The Influence of Human Factors on Quality and Outcomes for Medical Teams (Room: E429C) Participants will develop awareness of and skills in managing the complex interactions which effect outcomes on medical teams. Jamie Dickey, MA, MSW, PhD and Ross Ungerleider MD, MBA
