Erickson and Horne 10 Document Path: l:\council\bills\gm\29607zw13.docx 11 12 Introduced in the House on February 26, 2013 13 Adopted by the House on February 26, 2013 14 15 Summary: Catherine Leigh Hunter 16 17 18 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 19 20 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 21 2/26/2013 House Introduced and adopted ( House Journalpage 1) 22 23 24 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 25 26 2/26/2013 27 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE 12 MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF 13 REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF CATHERINE 14 LEIGH HUNTER OF CHARLESTON COUNTY AND TO 15 EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE 16 AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS. 17 18 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 19 Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of 20 Catherine Leigh Hunter at the age of fortyseven on August 24, 21 2012; and 22 23 Whereas, born in Charleston on June 18, 1965, Leigh Hunter was 24 the loving daughter of Eugene McGregor Hunter and Kay Key 25 Hunter; and 26 27 Whereas, while a devoted member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, she 28 earned a bachelor of science from the University of South Carolina 29 where she served as vice president of Student Government; and 30 31 Whereas, she was honored with the Caroliniana Award and the 32 Outstanding Senior Award and was named to Who’s Who Among 33 American College Students; and 34 35 Whereas, after earning a juris doctorate from the University of 36 South Carolina School of Law, Leigh Hunter served as a 37 prosecuting attorney in the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office 38 for several years; and 39 40 Whereas, she was the sole practitioner and owner of the Hunter 41 Law Firm in Charleston where she represented defendants in her

[3610] 2 1 criminallaw practice and all parties in family law, and she 2 advocated for children as a guardian ad litem; and 3 4 Whereas, her love of art was evident in her warm, infectious smile, 5 which was itself a work of art; and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 8 Representatives are grateful for the life of Leigh Hunter and for the 9 example of compassion and kindness she set for all who knew her. 10 Now, therefore, 11 12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 13 14 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 15 by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing 16 of Catherine Leigh Hunter of Charleston County and extend their 17 deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many 18 friends. 19 20 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 21 Kay Hunter. 22 XX 23
