1. Draw and label a map to your grandmother’s house.
2. List the sources of transportation that Coco and grandma used. Draw one.
3. Write 3-5 sentences about a better way that grandma and Coco could get together without missing each other.
4. Pretend you are Coco. Write a letter to Grandma telling her how much you miss her and why.
Introductions
1. Show the students a toy car, plane, bike or truck. Talk about the differences in them and ask them which one they would use to visit someone. Let’s read our book and see how Coco gets to her grandmother.
2. Show the students a basket of apples. Talk about a special time that they spent with a grandparent. Let’s read this story and find out how Coco and her grandmother spend their time together.
3. Show the students a map. Ask them where their grandparents live. Ask them who in their life do they miss a lot. Tell them that we will read about a girl who goes to visit her grandma. Will she ever find her?
