FTP CADET LEADERSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

*Note: The FTP Staff may issue additional or more detailed responsibilities for each position. These descriptions are in addition to what is listed in the Field Training Manual. Cadets in leadership positions are responsible to that position at all times during their respective rotation. If a cadet is unable to be present for duty while holding a leadership position and has not coordinated accordingly (i.e. has not informed chain of command in advance and found a substitute) disciplinary measures will be taken.

Squadron Commander (SQ/CC). The SQ/CC reports to the FTP Squadron Commander and is the liaison between the FTP staff and the flights in his or her squadron. This cadet is responsible for ensuring standardization of squadron appearance, conduct, and training in accordance with SQ/STANDO and FLT/STANDO guidance. Deputy Squadron Commander (SQ/CD). The SQ/CD reports to the rotational SQ/CC and assumes command in the absence of the SQ/CC. This individual is also responsible for assembling the squadron for formations and receiving the report from the FLT/CDs. Squadron Standardization Officer (SQ/STANDO). The SQ/STANDO is responsible for training FLT/STANDOs on inspection procedures. The SQ/STANDO coordinates with the FTP Staff and flight standardization officers (FLT/STANDOs) to standardize the FTP Squadron. This cadet conducts standardization spot checks on flights. Squadron Academic Officer (SQ/AO). The SQ/AO is responsible for training FLT/AO in leading flight academic lessons and group discussions. The SQ/AO reviews each lesson with FLT/AOs to ensure standardization of information and to consolidate feedback from the flights. The SQ/AO may at times receive guidance from the Wing Inspector General. Also responsible for organizing and attending weekly meetings to ensure standardization of information among the flights. Squadron Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Officer (SQ/MWR) The SQ/MWR reports to the FTP SQ/CC and is responsible for planning and organizing 1 (one) squadron social per month. SQ/MWR is also responsible for the FLT/MWR officers and must report on their progress.

Flight Commander (FLT/CC). The FLT/CC plans and coordinates activities within the flight. The FLT/CC also notifies the SQ/CC of any problems within the flight and reports flight attendance to the SQ/CD during formations. Deputy Flight Commander (FLT/CD). The FLT/CD assumes command of the flight in the absence of the FLT/CC. He/she will be responsible for attendance among other organizational and administrative tasks. This individual should be willing and ready to assist the FLT/CC in any way possible. Flight Academic Officer (FLT/AO). The FLT/AO reports to the SQ/AO and is responsible for briefing academic lesson plans and leading discussions within the flight. The FLT/AO receives guidance from the SQ/AO on curriculum and discussion topics. The FLT/AO is also responsible for receiving feedback from the flights and reporting feedback to the SQ/AO.

Flight Physical Fitness Officer (FLT/PFO). The FLT/PFO will assist the SQ/CC in the performing of PT. The FLT/PFO will also be responsible for transition of the flight during PT.

Flight Standardization Officer (FLT/STANDO). The FLT/STANDO trains the flight on procedures outlined by the SQ/STANDO, ensures standardization within the flight, and reports discrepancies to the FLT/CD.

Flight Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Officer (FLT/MWR). The FLT/MWR reports to the SQ/MWR and is responsible for planning, organizing and attending one flight social per month. They are also responsible for taking attendance at the above mentioned social functions.

Flight Drill and Ceremonies Officer (FLT/D&C). The FLT/D&C assists the SQ/D&C with drill, practices, reveille, and retreat. The FLT/D&C also explains drill evaluation procedures to the flight and assists cadets with special drill, remedial drill, and drill competition. Guidon Bearer. These cadets coordinate with the FLT/D&C and perform duties as outlined in AFMAN 36-2203 Individuals will acquire and return equipment for practice/formal parades. Flight guidons must be at all Lead Labs unless the FTP staff directs otherwise.
