THEME: Dewey 101: The Meaning of Democracy and Education in a Complex, Turbulent and Dangerous World. On the 101st anniversary of Democracy and Education we believe that Dewey’s progressive vision still rings true. Yet, we need to reconstruct and re-contextualize his educational philosophy for our own times.

We ask: What is the meaning and the promise of Democracy and Education in the context of 2017?

We especially encourage proposals that consider themes such as:  Confronting Racial and Economic Oppression  Working towards Gender Equity  Facing the Threat of Violence
