Tests and projects will make up your grade. The final exam will count 10% of your semester grade.

Units Covered ● Unit 1: Automobile ● Unit 2: Payroll ● Unit 3 : Investments ● Unit 4: Consumer Purchasing ● Unit 5 : Interest & Credit Cards ● Unit 6: Checking Accounts ● Unit 7 : Budget Essentials ● Unit 8: Income Taxes

Tests: You will be notified in advance of tests. If you are absent for a test, you will take it the day you return during your study hall or during IE time. If you have a pre-planned absence, you are expected to take the test before you leave. If you do not make-up the test in an appropriate time frame, a grade of zero will be assigned. Grading  If you receive a grade lower than a 60%, you are required to make corrections on the problems that you got wrong. You have 1 week to turn in the corrections. By doing corrections, you will then earn a 60% on that assessment.  If you receive a grade lower than a 40%, you are required to meet with the teacher during IE to work on your corrections. By doing corrections, you will then earn a 60% on that assessment.  You can re-take one assessment each quarter if all of your daily practices for the unit have been completed. You will receive the re-take grade. Re-takes can show that you have grasped the material and can greatly improve your grade.

Projects: Projects will be incorporated throughout the semester focusing on meeting specific math standards. Doing well on projects can substantially help your grade. If you turn in a project late, points will be deducted based on the number of days late it is.

Daily Practice: Daily practice allows students to excel on assessments (tests and projects); it will be given almost daily. Practice will be checked for completion. Your daily practice is usually not graded by how many problems are right/wrong. You will receive full credit on daily practice if your assignments are complete, readable and work shown.

Daily Point Scale 2 points - completed assignment 1.5 points - partially completed assignment now finished 1 point - partially complete (at least one-half) or turned in late 0 points - incomplete Daily practice will be tracked on Skyward but will not count toward your grade in this class. Daily practices for a unit must be completed in order to re-take a test from that unit. If you miss a class… If you have an excused absence, you have a 2 day grace period per day missed to complete make-up work. If you have a pre-planned absence (doctor’s appointment, vacation, missing for an extra curricular activity), you are required to take the initiative and get the assignment(s) you will be missing before you miss the class period. Note: If you will miss consecutive class periods (vacation), you should get your assignments well enough in advance since you will need to turn in your assignments before you leave!

Binder: It is recommended that you keep your materials in a 3-ring binder.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS 1. Be READY, be RESPECTFUL, be RESOURCEFUL and be WILLING TO LEARN!  Have a planner handy to manage your time. Bring necessary materials to class (book, binder, calculator, pencil). Pencils should be sharpened BEFORE class begins.  Respect others (treat others as you would like to be treated), respect your environment (desks, floors, chairs, computers), respect yourself (no putdowns)  Get help before it is too late! Request to meet with me during IE time, make study “dates” with knowledgeable friends, and use the on-line study tools.  Attitude is everything. Come to class with a good attitude and you WILL learn. 2. Students are considered tardy if they are not in their seats when the bell rings. 3. No electronic devices allowed while taking assessments unless you have been given permission. You need to have a calculator for tests/quizzes (can not use app on chromebook). Electronic devices will be confiscated if they are being used inappropriately. 4. Rules specified in the Student Handbook will be enforced. For example, you must fill out a pass in your agenda book if you need to leave class/pod for any reason – no exceptions. Mrs. Gregory wants all students to feel comfortable in the classroom. If a student has any questions regarding these rules, or is having difficulty in some area, a private conference should be requested.

DISCIPLINE CONSEQUENCES 1. Warning 2. Warning / see Mrs. Gregory after class 3. 15 minute detention (first offense), 30 minute detention (second offense), etc…. 4. Meeting with administrator, counselor and/or parent.

If a student is a continual disruption in class a referral will be made. Discipline consequences are subject to Mrs. Gregory’s discretion! Consumer Math A
