I. Members in Attendance Kimberly McAbee Casey Dover Ann Hodge Karen Bagwell Shameka Dawkins Paula Jeter Sarah Little Nick Page Nicole Sheffield Shalon Green

II. Previous Business Mrs. Little reviewed the minutes from the September meeting, which were approved.

III. Committee Reports a. Bylaws Committee: Mrs. McAbee reviewed the bylaws. She noted that typically, SIC members were voted on in the spring for the following school year, but that by moving the vote to the fall, the school had more parental participation. Because of this, SIC council members were not published in the WPS Handbook, as stated in the bylaws. The committee feels that this should be taken out of the bylaws, under Article 4, “In addition, the names of all council members will be published in school handbooks.” Names will remain on the school website. b. Strategic Planning/School Improvement Committee: Mrs. Sheffield reported on the school’s goals as part of the School Improvement Plan. Mrs. McAbee noted that as a district, Spartanburg District 4 has a five year strategic plan. c. Title I: Mrs. Hodge reported that there were no updates regarding Title I, but stated that we will not have a Title I audit this year. d. PTO Financial Report & Upcoming Events: The PTO financial report was handed out, and Mrs. Dawkins reviewed upcoming events. These include Santa’s visit in December, Skate night in January, and the Spring fundraiser in February. Mrs. McAbee noted that in the past, funds from these activities have been dedicated to playground equipment, but future funds will be dedicated to providing tablets for classroom use. e. Parental & Community Involvement: Mrs. Dover noted the positive support the school has been receiving from the parents and community. Classes have had many community members come in to speak, as well as participate in other areas, such as reading with students. IV. Principal’s Report Mrs. McAbee handed out the 2013 Annual Report Card, and noted “Excellent” ratings in both Absolute and Growth. She also noted an “A” grade on the federal ESEA rating. V. NAEYC Annual Report Mrs. Dover stated that she has recently submitted the school’s third annual report for NAEYC accreditation. One more report will be submitted along with the school’s intent to renew. Mrs. Dover noted that the data collection process for renewal will begin in January 2014.
