Minutes of meeting held on Sunday 15th October 2017 1.Chairman opened the meeting at:- 1230 2.Members present:- There were 8 members present 3.Apologies:- Received from:- D.Bussey,J.Serdecki,M.Bugg,S.Unwin,S.Reader,J.Horton,D.Pritchard,M.Williams,R.Elrick,A.Last,A.Edwards 4.Obituaries:-The list of Obituaries was passed round for all to read, at the same time a minutes silence was observed followed by our prayer. 5.Minutes from previous meeting. A show of hands unanimously accepted these minutes. 6. Matters Arising:- There were no matters arising from these minutes. 7.Chairman's report:- 1) Islamic State: UK Military could honour drone pilots. - Discuss. D.Bussey asked that this be discussed at the meeting, he disagrees with the proposal. The Chairman started by agreeing with Dave's objections. The Chairman will search the internet for any means that we can voice our objection. Failing this, then the only way is to write to your M.P. To close the discussion the Chairman said that he will write to his local M.P. on behalf of the Submariners Association. 8. Correspondence :- 1) Data Base update. The secretary has been asked by the National Chairman for the following:- 1) Update branch members details on the spread sheet sent. This was done three weeks ago. 2) How members have paid their sub's, and tie these in with cheques sent. 3) Ask members that pay their sub's by S.O to please change to paying by D.D. 4) Identify members that have not received their membership cards. The Chairman emphasised the importance of getting all details of members back to the new Membership Secretary. Keith Bishop ( our late Membership Sec ) was half way through building a new Data Base, now, due to passwords etc, David Woolterton being unable to access it, is having to build a completely new one. The response to the E-mail from the secretary sent to all members was slow, but with help from the treasurer all is nearly complete. However, there are still those who refuse to acknowledge e-mails. 9. Secretary's report. 1) Trafalgar Night Tickets. M.Williams requested that members be reminded of these celebrations taking place on Saturday 21st October 2017 at the RNA club commencing at 1930. Tickets are on sale at the bar, cost £8, to include buffet and entertainment, there will also be a raffle. 2) Trafalgar Night rum. It was agreed that the SA supply the rum that has been the custom. M.Williams to be asked to arrange this. 3) Our Standard will be paraded.

10.Treasurer's report: Monthly Statement 17/09/2017 Opening Balance £2,974.30 Meeting Collection 35.00 Monies paid out last month Mrs Elrick's Flowers 34.00 Branch Balance £2,942.00 Amount collected at this meeting £30.00 11.Social Secretary's Report:- Christmas dinner at Skegness. 1) There are still members who have not responded re:- their intention to attend and their menu choices. PAYMENT TO BE MADE BY THE NOVEMBER MEETING. CHEQUES TO BE MADE OUT TO "SUBMARINERS ASSOCIATION", and paid to the treasurer.

12.Welfare report: 1) The Chairman told members that Sandy Elrick is poorly, Flowers and card had been sent from the branch, and Sandy had sent her thanks. 2) D.Pritchard is waiting to see his surgeon, His legs are badly swollen, and it is hoped that keyhole surgery can be performed to put the problem right. Dave has been offered the branch mobility scooter, which is at present clogging up the chairman's garage. 3) The secretary rang I.Davies, he is fine although he has had to have his heart stopped and restarted a couple of times, due to its irregular beat. Ian does not do E-mail, so I will send him our minutes by post, this will keep him involved with us. 4) A.Edwards has personal family issues at present, and sends his apologies. 13.LExSA report:- 1) There has not been a LExSA meeting since our last meeting 2) Mike removed the SA collection box from the bar area, to check for old £1 coins. He then arranged for it to be replaced after the cut off date for using the old coins. Thank you Mike! A.O.B. 1) After receiving a "flyer" from Hobson's Coaches, the Chairman thought it would be a good idea to get a brochure for 2018, with the idea of day's out for the branch. P.C. coaches was also to be considered. 2) D.Shaw told members that Armed Forces Network T.V is on channel 96.
