December 2015

Santa arrived in Malahide recently and 6th Class took part in the festive activities. Ms. Gillan and 6th class sang Christmas songs in the village.

Congratulations to 4th Class on a fantastic performance of ‘Scrooge NT’ that was performed to the school on 17th December and to the parents on 18th December. Big thank you to Ms Murphy, Ms Duffy-Meade and Ms Goslin for all their help.

Oliver Deeter Jones from 3rd Class will be performing in Sleeping Beauty from 14th-17th January in the Clasac Theatre, Alfie Byrne Rd, Clontarf. Good luck Oliver.

Congratulations to Emira and Zana Aliu, Juliette Evans-Garrett, Jana Al-Zaibag, Sarah Burns and Gina and Sophia Murray who were on stage at the Helix last week with Backstreet Dance Company.

William Hackett, James Martin & Daniel Crampton received their Dublin County Medals at the St Sylvester’s Christmas Disco Party. The three boys are part of the Under 11 squad that went unbeaten this season. Not only did they have some classy moves on the pitch, their moves of celebration on the dance floor have made them local legends. Well Done to the Fantastic Trio.

Congratulations to 5th Class who have just completed the Cycling Safety and Skills School course and all passed with flying colours!

Kitty K, author of ‘Is Christmas Cancelled?’ visited the school last week. She gave a recital to all classes and spoke about writing books.

In swimming news congratulations to Juliette Evans-Garrett who is the Aer Lingus swimmer of the year. Congratulations also goes to Ryan Green who recently won a bronze medal for breaststroke in a swimming gala.

Look at the wonderful hampers we made with your help. Thank you so much to everyone who so generously brought in food, toys and gave donations to the St Vincent de Paul hampers.

The gardening club have been busy planting bulbs in the window boxes and making a green table decoration for Christmas. Around the Classrooms Junior Infants Junior Infants have been having lots of fun with a shop that they made in class. They have also visited some shops in the village. Silhouettes that they made of themselves can be seen outside the classroom. Great fun has been had playing Christmas games.

Senior Infants Senior Infants have made brilliant penguin pictures. They have also made Christmas cards and are having fun singing Christmas songs.

1st Class Look at the beautiful advent candle 1st Class has made. They have also made reindeer plates and a Christmas tree with their handprints.

2nd Class have made amazing calendars for 2016! They are early Christmas presents for someone at home!

3rd Class have learnt how to play Sudoku, that should keep them occupied over Christmas! They are looking forward to seeing their artwork at the exhibition in January.

4th Class are relaxing after their play and having fun in the classroom.

5th Class have been doing a project on different religious festivals. They have enjoyed working on their self-portraits. 6TH Class have been very busy writing magical Christmas stories to read to the junior part of the school. They have also been very creative with some fantastic Christmas art. In their last Christmas in St. Andrew’s they would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas!

Thank you to SAPA who organized a wonderful coffee day in the GP Room on Monday. Coffee and mince pies were enjoyed by many. SAPA also sponsored the Christmas Coloring competition. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard on their pictures. Here is a list of the class winners.
