In order to make the most efficient use of our studio space, we may discontinue classes if there are under 10 participants consistently. ADAPTIVE YOGA $ You will learn a variety of yoga postures that can be practiced from a chair, standing or seated on the foor. This class is specifcally designed for people with multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury or other neuromuscular disorders and adapted for people of all physical abilities. Class is run through the City of Fort Collins. Visit http:// www.fcgov.com/aro/ for more information. ADAPTIVE YOGA BIA This specialized yoga class is adapted specifcally for people living with a brain injury in Northern Colorado. Props such as chairs, bolsters, blankets, blocks, and ft balls are used to support the stability, safety, and comfort of each participant. Each class will provide the experience of various breathing techniques, mindful movement that includes both strengthening and stretching exercises, and relaxation techniques. Registration is required and FREE, call 720-907-1455 to register. BREATHING INTO YOGA Breathing Into Yoga is not a style of yoga but rather an approach utilizing its tools. This technique, known as viniyoga, uses Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breath work) principles. Through stretching and contracting we fnd that repetition increases circulation making our muscles stronger and more fexible. This prepares us for holding postures. Most postures are suited for all levels of students and can be modifed. CANDLELIGHT YIN YOGA This class blends stretching, Pratapan (gentle, simple movements) and restorative poses with a focus on relaxing into the deepest layers of the body. Explore soothing and well-supported poses using soft blankets, blocks, straps, and bolsters, to open the body gently, yet deeply. Improve joint flexibility, free stagnation in the muscle tissue, lubricate the joints and foster a quiet, meditative state. All levels are welcome, no previous experience necessary. CROSS TRAIN YOGA A 60 minute class that allows you to get your whole workout in one. The class starts with a 15 minute power yoga warm-up, followed by 20 minutes of high- intensity strength training and cardio using weights, bands and your own body. The class finishes with a 25 minute deep yoga stretch and meditative relaxation. Cross-Train Yoga is suitable for all-levels. The instructor will provide plenty of options to ensure your workout is safe as well as efficient. DEEP STRETCH Participants will love this yin/restorative practice of yoga that is open to all levels. We live in a world that is very yang. Using a more balanced approach, yin and yang complement and build on one another. This class is great to reduce stress, sooth and calm. The attention is placed on slow moving postures held for 1 - 5 minutes that will help with flexibility by targeting connective tissue and muscles. ENLIGHTEN FLOW An all levels Vinyasa class where you will move intuitively through breath and alignment cues. Learn specific breath techniques to help you with your practice as well as your stress response. Expect to explore different themes and ideas beyond the asanas in an effort to learn more about yourself. If you are new to yoga please allow time to acclimate. All yogis can use this class as an opportunity to heal, stretch, calm, and breathe. FIERCE FIERCE: Functional & Fit, Independent, Energized, Restored, Confdent, Empowered. Serving the unique needs of those going through the cancer experience with a positive, active focus on restoring function, movement, and enjoyment of activity. Improve strength, health, and quality of life with independence and confdence. Overcome roadblocks to motivation, confdence, and knowledge about exercise in regard to cancer. Includes warmup, gentle stretching & resistance exercise, aerobic walking, cool down, discussion, sharing, & learning. Works at your own pace each day, no expectations, only support! Class meets 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month. FREE to members & non-members. GENTLE YOGA This class is geared toward those who want to take it a little easier. Alignment principles, gentle breathing techniques, and basic poses will be taught at a slow pace for all levels. Modifcations are offered as needed so that everyone, regardless of age or physical ability, will feel the benefts that yoga has to offer. GENTLE/RESTORATIVE YOGA A relaxing class that uses passive postures to restore energy. Relieve stress, recover from illness or injury, receive support or simply relax. Pranayama work – breath techniques that increase lung capacity and release tensions; Gentle repetitive movement – increase circulation to the larger skeletal muscles and major joints; Restorative postures use props to relax without effort; and Savasana – a fnal deep relaxation. HATHA YOGA Hatha Yoga is often slower moving than a Power Yoga practice but it can still be challenging, stimulating or soft, depending on the level of practice. The integration of breath while holding poses for longer periods of time comprise this branch of practice that encompasses and integrates many forms. HEATED ENLIGHTEN FLOW Enjoy a gently heated version of our popular Enlighten Flow yoga class. This vinyasa flow emphasizes creating length, stability, and balance while cultivating mindful meditation and breathing practices. **The room is a regulated temperature that does not go above 90 degrees F. HEATED POWER YOGA This class is an invigorating strength oriented yoga class. It focuses on breath while continually challenging your balance and stamina. This is a fast-paced class. Yoga experience is strongly suggested. A challenging full-body workout designed to make you sweat, while utilizing the body for resistance strength training. **The room is a regulated temperature that does not go above 90 degrees F. HIP HOP HEATED YOGA Ramp up your yoga practice with hip hop, R&B, and rap beats in a softly lit, heated power yoga class led by Instructor Chelsey Peacock. **The room is at a regulated temperature that does not go above 90°F INSCAPE YOGA This lusciously slow and meditative practice is the yogic prescription for chronic tension, feelings of overwhelm, longterm physical imbalance, and/or exhaustion.

Danzlb a Cressman Rehabilitation, Norton Healthcare, Louisville, KY, USA b Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences, College of Health Professions, Bellarmine University, Louisville, KY, USA ARTICLE INFO ABSTRACT Keywords: Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate the outcomes for individuals with Essential Tremor (ET) Yoga who participate in a community-based yoga class, led by a neurologic physical therapist. Essential Tremor Methods: Six subjects with ET completed an 8-week intervention consisting of weekly 1-h yoga classes (in the Physical therapy Vinyasa style) guided by an instructor (200-h registered yoga teacher, physical therapist, and neurological resident). Results: Five subjects demonstrated improvements on the Tremor Research Group Essential Tremor Rating Scale (mean 15.3%, range 8.3–34.7%). The mean improvement on the Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale was 10.8% (range 2.5–20%). Five subjects maintained pre-intervention anxiety levels (“very low”) while one reported increased anxiety secondary to a non-study related factor. Minimal improvements were noted in the McGill Quality of Life Questionnaire. Conclusion: This pilot study offers support for further examining the benefits of integration of yogaintoan exercise program for individuals with ET and specific suggestions for future research are offered. There wereno adverse events with participation in yoga.

    December 2019 GRATITUDE Thank you all for being part of the Apollo Power Yoga community over the course of this past year. It has been a big year for Apollo Power Yoga as we opened our Ferrymead branch in February, ran our teacher training programme in January and September, conducted 40 Days to Personal Revolution throughout October and into November and had many workshops including those taught by Dan Fanthorpe, a visiting ashtanga teacher. Next year we will continue in the same vein with great group classes, workshops and programmes to serve your needs as students of yoga. Margo and Hamish are grateful to our team of teachers who deliver our practices so well. Thank you Alice, James, Rachel, Ceri, Karen, Jim, Elena, Camila and, most recently, Clare. We also thank Laura, now in Dunedin, Katie, in the Waikato, Ingrid, in Northland, and Lorraine, now in Ireland for their teaching for us earlier in the year. We are grateful to those who have been part of our cleaning crew. Primary Study Objective: To determine if vinyasa yoga is an aerobic physical activity based on the HR response of participants. Methods/Design: Observational study using a convenience sample Setting: Exercise room on a university campus Participants: Forty-two adults aged 21-54 years with prior yoga experience completed the yoga session with no adverse events. Equipment malfunction precluded data analysis for 4 participants. Intervention: A 50-minute vinyasa yoga class that included 10 minutes of pre-activity rest, 35 minutes of asanas, and 5 minutes of meditation. Participant HR was recorded continuously during the class. Primary Outcome Measures: Mean HR response and time spent at each intensity level during asanas. Results: The data of 38 participants were analyzed. Mean (SD) HR for all participants during asanas was 107 (23) beats per minute (bpm), and 44% of the asana time was considered light-intensity aerobic physical activity.

The aim of the study was to examine the changes of the maximal muscle torque in females during a six-month Power Yoga (Astanga Vinyasa) training. It was assumed that Power Yoga training caused changes of the maximal muscle torque in females during six months, but the topography of all muscle groups did not follow these changes. Basic procedures. Twelve untrained female subjects took part in the study. They practiced Power Yoga twice a week for six months. Muscle torque measurements in static conditions were performed on two dates: before the commencement of Power Yoga training and after its completion. Ten muscle groups were studied: flexors and extensors of the trunk, as well as flexors and extensors of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Main findings. The differences between muscle torque values for flexors and extensors of the shoulder, elbow and hip, as well as flexors of the knee on the right side of the body were statistically significant between the 1st and 2nd measurement. On the left side of the body, only the muscle torque of the elbow extensors increased significantly. For flexors and extensors of the trunk, the changes were not significant. No changes of the flexors–extensors ratio for the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee joints and trunk were observed during the six months of training, with the exception of left shoulder muscles and right knee muscles.
