Section Includes: Include labor, materials, equipment, and accessories necessary to furnish and install valves indicated on Drawings and specified.
SUBMITTALS
Shop Drawings: Contractor shall submit a Shop Drawing portfolio showing valves, cocks, and faucets to be used and a schedule of equipment and areas to be served for approval by Architect/Engineer.

Ball valves in insulated piping shall have 1 1/4-inch extended stems.
Valves in Gas Piping (Ball Type Valves):
Pipe Sizes 2 Inches and Smaller: Gas rated, screwed bronze construction ball valve with chrome plated ball, reinforced TFE seats and stuffing box ring, blowout proof stem design.
Pipe Sizes 2 1/2 Inches and Larger: 200-pound W.O.G., non-shock, iron body, bronze mounted, tapered or straight, square head with flanged ends with handle or Owner approved equal.
Drain Valves: Locate where shown on Drawings and at all low points in system; Apollo Series 78-100/200 with hose thread, cap, and chain, 600-pound W.O.G., soldered or threaded, in accessible location for easy draining of domestic water system.
WATER PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES
General: Pressure reducing valve shall automatically reduce a higher inlet pressure to a constant lower outlet pressure regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure. Valve shall have a hydraulic check feature to prevent reverse flow on pressure reversal.
Basic Valve:
Body and cover shall be cast iron, ASTM A126, Class B, coated 100 percent inside and outside with fused epoxy. Seat/retainer plate shall have brass trim, ASTM B584, Alloy C84400. Stem shall be stainless steel, AISI 303; spring shall be stainless steel, AISI 302, and the Diaphragm shall be nylon reinforced, "Quad Seal", Buna-N (Nitrile).
Hydraulic control pilots shall have bodies of brass, ASTM B584, Alloy C84400, internals shall be stainless steel, AISI 303, and Elastomers, where applicable, shall be Buna-N (Nitrile).
Electrical shall be 120 VAC, 60 Hertz. Body shall be brass and enclosure shall be general purpose NEMA Type 3.
Control circuit strainer shall be an in-line flo-clean style with isolation cocks.
Control tubing shall be seamless annealed copper with brass flared ends.
Valve end connections shall be 125-pound flange, ANSI B16.1, good for a maximum pressure of 200 psig.

INSTALLATION
General Requirements: Furnish and install gate, full port ball, and check valves where indicated on Drawings/Specifciations and where necessary for proper control of piping and equipment. Valves shall be same size as pipe in which installed, unless otherwise specified or shown on Drawings.
Gate and full port ball valves shall be used where shut-off valves are to be fully open or closed.
Full port ball and angle valves shall be used where flow is to be throttled.
Valves on chromium plated piping shall be polished brass finish chromium plated. Compression stops shall be heavy pattern with stuffing box.
Valves shall be of one manufacturer and shall have name or trademark cast or stamped on valve.
Valves shall have packing gland nut, packing, and back seating design.
Accessibility/Operation:
Valves shall be installed to be easily accessible for operation, visual inspection, and preventive maintenance.
Unless otherwise noted, valves shall be installed with valve stem in vertical position above piping, except chain operated valves.
Valves with stem above 8 feet from floor in boiler or equipment rooms shall have chain wheel operator and chain with chain guard.

Refer to Section 23 05 53, Identification for Plumbing Piping and Equipment, for tagging requirements and valve tag schedule requirements.
