Healthy Start & NFP program HS: Jonathan Lawrence, temp health educator for HS shared updates that ICHD is hosting a Nurse Family Partnership/Healthy Start Appreciation picnic this afternoon. They anticipate at least 100 attendees. Brochure update Elon Geffrard, Safe Sleep Coordinator noted she continues to identify and communicate with retailers in the community to discuss products that could be hazardous to safe sleep. Also, Safe Sleep Mini Grant update Elon has been communicating with Target in Lansing who is extending an opportunity to provide information to consumers in the parking lot. I think a tent will be provided and a table to support any information Elon wants to present. ICHD sees this as a first step in working with retailers. Elon has communicated with Meijer who noted they have a no solicitation policy. September 26th Elon will present along with a Public Health Nurse at the Annual Foster Parents Conference. Elon noted May – Aug there were 750 hits on ICHD Facebook. Shared there is a new Tomorrow’s Child brochure. MI Works- Elon provides safe sleep information to clients. Worked with DHS regarding the creation of a Safe sleep banner. Can be found in the lobby of DHS.
Round Table – Invite you to share the Laura – Mentioned representative from MI-APP wants to work you are currently doing or have join. Elon has been working with EPO instructors and in mind to help reduce the infant providing information related to safe sleep. Baby Café is mortality rate and health disparities in going very well. Ingham County. Lisa – Health Fair at ICHD went very well. Served 310 families and 670 kids. Agenda Items for Next Meeting Jeanne- Elon presented a nice video related to safe sleep utilizing real families. Adding to DHS arsenal of videos. Sandy- November is Premature Awareness month. Nice to have Cassie discuss Ingham County Premature Peri stats. Sandy also noted it would be helpful to have a lobbyist or access to one to support our efforts. Suggestions: Add work plan under old business to ensure we are updating as needed. Think of ways to increase our visibility via social media. Maybe consider an opportunity to have clients send pictures of babies demonstrating safe sleep. Maybe have a contest. Regina mentioned via the Healthy Start grant ICHD will have FIMR again.
