Minutes of the October 8, 2013 General PAL Meeting

Called to Order at 6:35 pm

Old Business 1. Construction Update: A walk-through was performed and additional time is required to complete/finish items on the punch list. Target completion date is now Friday 10/25.

2. Landscaping Project: This will be executed in the coming weeks, target completion by end of October.

3. Race for Education: The weather forecast is not looking favorable for this Friday. A decision will be made at the end of the school day on Thursday 10/10. So, the rain date of 10/18 may need to be used. It was noted that the forecast for the raindate is also not favorable at this time, however, Mr. Schmucker will work on developing an alternate plan as a back-up to assure that the Race DOES take place on 10/18. The timing for Race day is as follows: 2 pm- students begin to assemble outside, with Race started by 2:15. At 3:15ish, the Race will end and students will assemble and the prize winners will be announced, starting with the popcorn and movie parties, mystery lunch with Mr. Schmucker, gift cards, and finally the grand prizes.

Duck Bucks will be distributed on the Monday following the Race (either 10/14 OR 10/21). The Race Lunch with the Principal is tentatively scheduled for 10/22.

New Business Committee sign-ups from Back to School night: Most events have sufficient volunteers, however, the Little Shopper’s Shoppe on 12/6 still needs a chairperson. A hard copy sheet will be sent home with all students to request help and an email will be sent out to the PAL distribution.

BoxTops/Campbell soup labels: An email was sent out to people who volunteered. Susan Kozlusky has volunteered to chair this committee.

Movie Night: Scheduled for 11/15. Licensing agreement renewal to be paid.

Poinsettia/Holiday Plant Sale- Dawn will contact the volunteers who signed up to help. Order forms will be sent home in early November and plants will be picked up at the Little Shopper’s Shoppe on Friday 12/6.

Sunshine Fund: It was agreed that a portion of this fund be paid to the Slifer family. Their family suffered a tremendous loss of property as a result of an arson fire in early September.

Principal’s Update- No other updates other than construction and landscaping projects.
