Caradon Swimming Club CCASA Intermediate Gala Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March 2018 Penzance Leisure Centre, Penzance/Dragon Leisure Centre, Bodmin
Introduction Please find attached all the information you require in order to enter the CCASA Intermediate Gala to be held on Saturday 17th March at Penzance Leisure Centre, St Clare, Penzance, TR18 3QW and Sunday 18th March at Dragon Leisure Centre, Lostwithiel Road, Bodmin, Cornwall PL31 1DE . This meet presents Caradon swimmers and the club with a number of opportunities: An opportunity for swimmers without County Qualifying times or have only qualified in a small number of events to compete To update their current personal best times To compete against other swimmers in Cornwall To gain competition experience
Qualifiers A list of swimmers who have achieved the qualifying times in relevant events is attached. Please note that swimmer’s who are participating in multiple events at the County Championships need NOT enter the intermediate gala
If a swimmer has qualified for a County Championships event, they cannot enter that same event at the intermediate gala even if they do not participate at the county championships.
Entry and Fee Each athlete has to pay a fee for each event in which they enter. All events are charged at £5.50. Further to this Caradon Swimming Club charges an additional Coaching and Administration Fee of £3.50 per swimmer that should be included in the total payment. Please submit the correct total entry fee by bacs along with proof of payment and your entry form to [email protected] or via post to CLAIRE RICKARDS,35 SYCAMORE DRIVE,TORPOINT,CORNWALL PL11 2NA cheques should be made payable to ‘Caradon Swimming Club’.
The closing date for entries to be received by the club is Tuesday 13th Feb 2018 No Entries will be excepted after this date.
Venue Both Penzance and Bodmin are 6 lane 25m deck level pool. Anti-wave devices will be in place and electronic timing / placing will be used. There is a small swim down facility usually available for swimmers to use during the running of events at Penzance. There is no swim down facility at Penzance.
Format Heats are seeded and swum according to entry times. Slower heats first.
Individual awards: Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd swimmers in each event in each age group as defined above.
Marshalling All competitors must report to the race Marshall’s in advance of their swims
Age Definition Swimmers ages will be as on 31st December of the year of competition with the exception of 9 year olds who will be age on day of competition. Transport It is each athlete’s responsibility to arrange his or her own transport to and from the competition. All swimmers participating in the Intermediate Gala are expected to attend their Friday training sessions as normal.
Caradon Uniform (Athletes) As a club, the image we portray to other competitors, spectators and officials is very important. An organised team gives a positive impression to others. With that in mind all swimmers are expected: To arrive at the venue ready to go straight to poolside in appropriate clothing To arrive wearing Caradon Swimming t-shirts and hoodies that should be exposed once inside the venue and worn throughout the day To arrive wearing tracksuit trousers or shorts, that should be worn throughout the day of competition on poolside To wear suitable footwear, such as trainers, throughout the day To be in possession of more than one Caradon swimming hat. Those who wear hats for warm up and / or competition must only wear a Caradon hat
Caradon Uniform (Supporters) Parents and supporters at the meet are strongly encouraged to wear a Caradon Swimming t-shirt for the competition
Attendance and Departure Caradon athlete’s must be on poolside no less than 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the published warm up time for sessions in which they are competing No athlete will leave the competition without the permission of a member of the Coaching Team Athletes are expected to remain on poolside with the team. Athletes will be permitted to see parents during the course of the day at suitable times in their schedule Athletes may return home at the end of competition in regular clothing
Caradon Racing Policy at Meets Please note the standard policy regarding racing, which will be adhered to by all athletes and parents who make an entry in this meet: Caradon swimmers will race in every event in which they enter Caradon swimmers will race in every final for which they qualify either directly, or as a reserve that is subsequently required for a final. Caradon swimmers will undertake all warm ups and swim downs as directed by the Head Coach Decisions regarding a swimmers racing programme at a competition will be at the discretion of the Head Coach. Withdrawal from any heat or final will usually only occur in the case of illness, injury or emergency. The Head Coach may make exceptions to the above policy for specific performance reasons on an individual basis in consultation with the athlete concerned. The Head Coach’s decision in all these matters will be final
Additional Rules and Conditions Cornwall ASA reserves the right to impose penalty fines on swimmers who enter and subsequently fail to compete in events without a valid reason. Any swimmer incurring a fine that is levied against the club will have these costs passed on to themselves or their parents.
