Crime Threats There is minimal risk from crime in Milan and Florence. U.S. visitors are generally safe in Italy and are not specifically targeted based on nationality; however, criminals do often target foreigners for petty theft such as pickpocketing, bag snatching, and thefts from parked vehicles. Passport theft is of particular concern. Milan and northern Italy have organized, sophisticated networks of pickpockets frequenting tourist attractions/sites, buses, and trains. Pickpockets may work in groups of two or three, and employ creative means to steal valuables such as wallets or cellular phones from tourists. Public transportation, including bus and train stations, serves as a favorite venue for pickpocket rings. Buses and trains tend to be very crowded; most victims report that they only realize that their belongings are gone upon exiting the bus/train.

    V EDIZIONE CAMPO GIOVANI ANNO 2013 La Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri - Dipartimento della Gioventù e del Servizio Civile Nazionale ed il Ministero dell’Interno - Dipartimento dei Vigili del Fuoco del Soccorso Pubblico e della Difesa Civile - Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco organizzano per l’anno 2013 la V edizione dei Campi Giovani riservati a 522 giovani di età compresa tra i 15 ed i 22 anni. I Campi, della durata di 6 giorni ciascuno, saranno finalizzati alla divulgazione della cultura della sicurezza antincendio e del soccorso pubblico. Il programma di attività comprende iniziative di formazione in materia di prevenzione incendi, nozioni di primo soccorso, gestione delle emergenze e include cenni di sicurezza sul lavoro. Le attività comprenderanno, oltre alla formazione sui necessari contenuti teorici, anche lo svolgimento di manovre ed esercitazioni, conoscenza delle attrezzature in dotazione ai Vigili del Fuoco, elementi di cartografia e orientamento, escursionismo come conoscenza dell’ambiente e del territorio. Saranno alternati momenti di formazione teorica ad attività pratiche e di simulazione, anche attraverso esperienze di gruppo.
