Team Overview and Objectives This practicum is intended to provide you with a basic understanding of cognitive behavioral theory and practice and to assist you in applying these therapeutic perspectives and techniques in your own clinical work. This will be accomplished by a combination of weekly group (team) and individual supervision meetings. Team meetings will be used to discuss assigned readings, develop and practice specific therapeutic techniques, view relevant audio-visual material and present and discuss client material. Individual supervision sessions will focus more specifically on the cases you will be carrying as part of your participation in the team. As part of both the individual and team meetings we will regularly review videotapes of your sessions and work toward helping you develop a cognitive-behavioral case conceptualization for each of your clients. Each of you will be responsible for presenting each of your clients one time (three presentations total) before the end of year.

The required text for this class is: Cognitive Therapy in Practice: A Case Formulation Approach by Jacqueline B. Persons

The following readings and any additional readings will be provided for you: Handbook of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Second Edition by Keith S. Dobson (Editor)
