Job Description – Form teacher

Responsible Principal to Line Principal Manager Main To carry out the duties of a school teacher as set out in the ‘School purpose Teachers’ Pay and Conditions’ document 2011 To continue to meet the Teaching Standards current and the new Standards from September 2012

Key tasks To plan, prepare and teach our curriculum in line with statutory requirements and using our school’s schemes of work, ensuring teaching to the highest standard To provide clear structures for lessons and for the sequences of lessons, which maintain pace, motivation and challenge Assess and record each student’s progress systematically with reference to our school’s current practice, including the social progress of each student and use the results to inform planning Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals, establishing high expectations of behaviour and attainment, so that teaching objectives are met Monitor and intervene when teaching, to ensure sound learning and behaviour, in an environment where students feel confident and secure Use a variety of teaching and learning styles to keep all students engaged and to make learning fun To evaluate own teaching critically to improve effectiveness To create a structured and organised learning environment that encourages each student to achieve their potential To develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, including parents, governors, local authority and other bodies outside of the school to promote the well being and educational progress of each student To follow school policies under the direction of the head teacher To actively take part in professional development, sharing expertise and experiences To work alongside other members of staff to review and innovate the curriculum To provide reports on individual progress as required To participate as required in meetings with professional colleagues and parents in respect of the duties and responsibilities of the post

This appointment is subject to the current conditions of employment contained in the School teachers’ Pay and Conditions document, the Education Act 1997, the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status, other current educational legislation and our school’s articles of governance.

This job description will be reviewed annually as part of the performance management review process, or more frequently if necessary. It may be amended at any time after consultation with the Principal and postholder.
