Tuesday 8-11-15:

Do you play a sport or participate in any extra-curricular activities? If so, what kind? (Examples include: band, clubs, jobs.) How did you become interested in it? If you don’t, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Wednes. 8-12-15:

What is MLA and how do you use it? If you have no clue (about the answer to that question), explain what plagiarism is and how to avoid it when writing.

Thursday: 8-13-15:

How do you usually study/prepare for assessments? (Don’t say that I don’t) Set a goal for yourself if you don’t usually study. Write down your goal (what you’re going to do to study for assessments in American Literature)

Friday 8-14-15:

Write down the following to help you prepare for the quiz: 1.Standard English-English used in formal writing 2.Non-Standard English-contains grammar and usage that do not follow the standard rules for English 3. Colloquial English-words that are appropriate in dialogue and informal writing 4. Tone-the way a writer uses words to convey a certain attitude to the reader

5. Slang-very informal language that enjoys a brief popularity and then generally becomes obsolete 6. Where should the heading of an MLA document appear? Left side

7.The requirements of MLA formatting are: 12 point Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins all around, heading in top left, last name and page number on every page except first (top right header) 8. What does MLA stand for? Modern Language Association
