THE CARING CLASSROOM
The Caring Classroom: Exploring the Foundations of Experiential Education and Community Building in the Classroom
This course will explore the foundations of experiential education in the classroom and provide a framework for building community in the classroom within the context of academic instruction. Tons of fun activities and methods for helping students create a caring classroom community. No time for "one more thing!"? This course will focus on using community building techniques within existing academic curriculum.
The Caring Classroom will balance practice and implementation of experiential philosophy and theory. Using experiential methodology, participants will share in creating an inclusive, safe learning community, which will provide a practical foundation for developing an experiential lesson plan for their classroom.
Using a brain-based approach, in this course we will bring together the dual elements of environment and content, using experiential learning theory, to build a classroom community. The course content will reflect the experiential learning cycle model, so individuals can learn how to use it effectively in their lessons.
