The meeting was called to order at 9:02 by Jason Thor

Acceptance of last meeting minutes from Dec. 19th , 2012. MOTION: Mike move to accept the minutes from the last meeting SECOND: Kevin

President’s report . Playoff meeting; we are trying to get 9A1, minor Atom or Novice. Meeting is Thursday Jan 24th. . We got AA minor peewee Railcats for playoffs . SBMHA won a draw from Hockey Winnipeg for Jets tickets on Feb 28th. What do we want to do with the tickets? See agenda item below. . Transcona (Mike) is considering what they want to do re: breaking away from Railcats and joining River East. If they leave on the boys side, they would also leave on the Female side. . Mike advised that they are not interested in a board re-organization. However, it would appear that they don’t have other options to maintain their level of representation with any other area association. o Patrick commented that from a Female perspective, they do not want a split from Transcona; o We need to confirm the ice situation before we move forward with the initiative; . There is an issue with SBMHA representation on the AA board. . Maginot update. Jason spoke to Greg at St. Vital arena. They are on the hook for Zamboni arrangements (4-5K/yr), but all other infrastructure costs are borne by the City. This initiative will generate approx. 10-15 additional hours of ice per week. . Our 15A1 team had bad behavior at a Fargo tournament and a number of complaints and possible sanctions from the Fargo force organizing tournament committee. SBMHA is in ongoing discussions with the tournament organizers to ensure SBMHA teams are welcome for future tournaments. The disciplinary committee has met with the players that behaved inappropriately and suspensions and sanctions were handed down. A copy of the report regarding these sanctions will be sent to Fargo tournament director. In addition, each of those players will be writing a letter of apology, which will also be sent to the Fargo tournament committee. ACTION: Jason & Larry will discuss the issue related to one specific player, with the coaches. We need to get history on the team expectation and parental communication. In addition, the player’s parents need to be contacted for additional discussion.

Agenda Item #2 MOTION: Richard motioned to donate the jets tickets to Southdale CC for the bud spud & steak fundraiser. SECOND: Joyce VOTE: Carried

Agenda Item #3 Coach Liaison . We reviewed the role of the Liaison . We discussed the option of a “coaches breakfast club” . Larry advised that he would help with practice plans & post a sample weekly practice plan for the coaches that they can use if they want.

Committee Reports Referee In-Chief . Dave has asked for more feedback on what we are seeing from referees. Overall, things are good, but refs need to call more penalties. . Coaches need to be in control of the parents. There is too much parental yelling at the refs. ACTION: Dave to send a reminder to coaches about parent behavior and no yelling at refs are permitted from the stands.

Evaluation Sub-Committee . The committee has not started their review

Coaching Evaluation Committee Report . Mid-season survey was sent out before Christmas. . We have all the results back from the survey and it now needs to be reviewed. ACTION: Larry to review the responses and check for red flags.

New Business

FEMALE Bantam A1 Females play offs will be hosted by the Stars program; Patrick also wants to be kept in the loop regarding any AA developments/discussions with Transcona.

COACH LIAISON Larry will be building a team to help him with the tasks and coaching development.

CHRISTMAS CAMP Rob will be reviewing the success of the camp with his team and discussion

NORWOOD Norwood Tournament next week 13 teams 5/6 7 &8

Rick St. Croix Camp 14 kids have completed a session Feedback has been positive so far. MOTION: Dave made a motion to adjourn SECOND: Patrick
