NGO Workshop Proposal Guidelines

There will be a total of 24 NGO Workshops of 90 minutes each during the three-day conference. One workshop is reserved for youth (18-24 years). These workshops will relate to one of the Roundtable themes, and must relate to the topic of the overall conference – “Sustainable Societies; Responsive Citizens”. The Roundtable topic number addressed by the workshop proposal should be a part of any submission.

The workshop proposal must follow all of the Workshop Proposal Guidelines.

 An NGO Workshop must be sponsored by an NGO accredited by the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) or in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).  Please indicate the official name of the NGO as listed by the United Nations.  Proposals must be submitted in English.  Only one proposal per sponsor organization can be submitted for review. At least two co- sponsoring organizations must be listed. Please note co-sponsoring organizations do not need to be accredited with DPI or ECOSOC.  It is recommended that presenters reflect age, gender and geographic balance. The substantive material covered in the proposed workshop must relate to the theme of the Conference and to the content of one of the Roundtable themes.  The contact person from the sponsoring organization must be available to confirm information, by Email, from 20 May – 15 June. If your proposal is accepted, the Workshops Sub-Committee co-chairs will need to contact you to verify information for promotion and publications of the Conference.  A limited number of professional, hands-on training workshops are accepted. Please be sure to indicate this type of workshop on the Proposal Form.

N.B. Should the sponsor be unable to deliver the accepted workshop, as presented in the proposal, the Workshops Sub-Committee reserves the right to substitute another workshop. The

Page 1 of 2 Workshops Sub-Committee reserves the right to suggest co-sponsors, or to solicit additional proposals, for a particular theme.

 The UN does not cover any of the costs associated with the NGO Workshops. The sponsoring, and/or, co-sponsoring NGOs are responsible for expenses associated with their workshop, including travel and accommodation for presenters, flyers and other materials.  Deadline for NGO Workshop proposal submissions is Monday, 16 May, 2011, at 5 PM (1700) United States – (New York) Eastern Daylight Savings Time.  All proposals must be submitted by Email to [email protected].
