When you are at the Banning, please answer the following questions:
1. At Phineas Banning’s Office, observe the desk, describe the items on his desk. Turn around and see the fireplace, what is interesting about that fireplace?
2. In the parlor, what style of furniture are the two sofas facing each other? What century were they made in?
3. In the Banning Residence nursery, describe what is on the little table. What toys do you see?
4. In either the girl’s room, or the boy’s room, what is beside the bed that is emptied out each day by the servants? How is it collected, and then what do they do with it (you find this out when you go to the kitchen)?
5. When you go to the kitchen, what are some of the inventions we talked about that you see? Look at the different irons, and especially look at the place they washed sheets, etc. What was their special bleach they used? 6. When you go to the schoolhouse, describe what you see. How easy do you think it would be to learn anything?
7. When you go to the barn, sketch the fire “engine” used at that time, and color it after. Also, describe the various carriages, and what they would be used for.
8. Lastly, in the barn, look at the blacksmith’s area. What kinds of objects did the blacksmith make?
9. Please have your picture taken here, in the barn, with your tour guide, and attach it to this answer sheet.
