FINANCIAL AID/ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES DIRECTOR

General Description/Primary Purpose The Financial Aid/Academic Support Services Director assists with the day-to-day operational support in all areas related to financial aid and academic support services. Along with the Executive Director of Financial Aid/Academic Support Services administers all financial aid programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and maximizes services provided to students through the awarding, transmittal, and reconciliation of Title IV and institutional funds. With oversight from the Executive Director of Financial Aid/Academic Support Services, the Financial Aid/Academic Support Director assists with enrollment services in the Financial Aid/Academic Services office. This position reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid/Academic Support Services.

Classification: Full-Time - Professional Staff

Salary: Director Salary Schedule, Commensurate with Qualifications & Experience

Appointment: Twelve Months

Essential Job Functions and Duties With administrative oversight by the Executive Director of Financial Aid/Academic Support Services:

1. Helps with all financial aid programs including the packaging, awarding, transmittal, and reconciliation of all Title IV and institutional funds and scholarships 2. Provides input in institutional goals and activities relating to financial aid, advisement and enrollment processes 3. Assists with the MSC Concurrent Enrollment Program and ensure compliance with the OSRHE policies. Verify that appropriate documentation has been submitted to the Registrar’s Office. 4. Works with the Registrar’s Office, Business Office, Academic Divisions and Faculty in providing comprehensive services to students 5. Oversees the student employment program. 6. Maintains a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies pertaining to student financial aid and scholarships and ensures institutional compliance 7. Works closely with Business Office and auditors preparing information for audit purposes 8. Develop and train financial aid/academic support staff and implement cross-training of personnel in area operations. Perform routine audits and address any issues and findings. 9. Aggressively seek and implement technological or other advances that serve to streamline processes and improve efficiency 10. Conduct financial aid workshops and providing FAFSA, entrance, exit, and financial literacy counseling both on campus and throughout the MSC ten county area 11. Develop and administer the college’s Default Management Plan and provide oversight of default prevention activities 12. Attends professional meetings to keep current with federal financial aid regulations, state regulations, and PowerFaids software 13. Exhibits pro-active attitude and actions. 14. Participates in community service activities and programs.

Maintains positive public relations with students, parents, Financial Aid/Academic Support staff, high schools, potential employers and institutional personnel. 16. Works effectively in a culturally diverse workplace and serve students from a variety of racial and cultural backgrounds 17. Adheres to all institution policies and procedures and all federal and state regulations and statutes 18. Maintains a positive attitude and be responsive to institutional needs. 19. Support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the institution. 20. Demonstrate appropriate levels of confidentiality. 21. Serve on campus committees as appointed. 22. Maintain NIMS training as required, including the IS-700.a and IS-100.HE tests. 23. Answer telephone, handle questions and inquiries, provide back-up to other areas as needed. 24. Accepts other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 25. Reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid/Academic Support Services.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, by using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Preferred  Five years of experience in work related to financial aid.  Experience with PowerFAIDS and PX

Beneficial  Ability to provide leadership, organize work, and delegate when appropriate.  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills.  Ability to meet deadlines.  Demonstrate knowledge of, or ability to become familiar with, two-year and/or community college systems in Oklahoma.  Demonstrate knowledge of, or the ability to learn, computer software and systems relevant to the Financial Aid Office.  Demonstrated skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Other Ergonomic Requirements In performing job functions, some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying, and other movements may be required. Tasks such as typing and working at a computer keyboard involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to perform these movements without a significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential function of the job.

Hours This position will generally require a 40-hour work week, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, job responsibilities may require work and/or travel at various hours.

Job Desc. – Financial Aid/Academic Support Services Director October 2017 Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or other combination of education and experience. Prior experience related to work in financial aid preferred. Knowledge of the administration of and regulations governing federal and student financial aid programs is preferred. Knowledge of computers and administrative software such as PowerFaids and PX preferred. Exhibit initiative, mature judgment, resourcefulness, confidentiality and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience: Two-year college and/or university experience in business services or related area preferred. Experience and/or training in working effectively in a racially and/or culturally diverse workplace.
