PR AND DIGITAL MARKETING EXECUTIVE

Responsible to: Director of External Relations

JOB PURPOSE: Plymouth College is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic PR and Digital Marketing Executive to deliver PR and marketing campaigns for Plymouth College, Senior and Prep Schools in order to raise the profile and ultimately generate enquiries from prospective families for both schools. General Description: 1. The PR and Digital Marketing Executive is responsible for the delivery of PR and marketing campaigns for Plymouth College, Senior and Prep Schools, implementing a range of activities in accordance with the marketing strategy to communicate key messages, raise profile and ultimately generate enquiries from prospective families for both schools. 2. PR and Digital Marketing Executive reports to the Director of Communications and has a close working relationship with Admissions. 3. PR and Digital Marketing Executive’s work involves delicate and confidential matters requiring a high degree of discretion. 4. The post involves working regular school hours with a flexible approach to early morning, evening and weekend work as required. 5. The post requires enhanced DBS clearance. 6. The post requires a good understanding of ROI within marketing. Representative Duties: 1. Media Relations – foster good relationships with broadcast and print journalists; research and write news releases, articles and case studies; provide verbal and written briefings; organise photoshoots, press calls and media visits.

2. Digital Marketing - Delivery of a range of digital marketing campaigns Social media management including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest. Supporting the Marketing Communications team in the development and delivery of digital marketing campaigns and activities. Responsible for managing e-marketing campaigns including, PPC, SEO, SMO, mobile and e-mail marketing. Responsible for content and social media strategy

6/11/15 across multiple platforms. Delivery of a range of marketing projects on time and within budget. Manage and maintain a library of digital assets. Liaison with stakeholders, other support functions and third party suppliers to communicate developments on projects. Liaise with external agencies on design work and projects. Monthly reports and invoices; analysis and reporting of work types, quality and staffing 3. Advertising – create call-to-action and brand awareness campaigns using print, online and outdoor media. 4. Website – responsible for up-dating existing content via the content management system. Creating improvements in the customer journey, retention and interaction from users. 5. Design – Familiar with design software, such as InDesign and Photoshop. To assist with the creation of brochures, newsletters and other marketing materials. 6. Events – providing logistical and promotion support for Plymouth College, Senior School Open Morning, Prep Open Morning and Open Weeks, Post16- Evening, plays and concerts, sports days and cross-country, House events, Senior Awards and Speech Days, BBSW and other admissions events. 7. Photography – responsible for taking photographs of all aspects of school life for publications, presentations, the website and to support news stories. 8. Publications – writing and collating copy; editing; proof reading; sourcing photographs and delivery of the production of prospectuses, newsletters (incl. monthly E-Bulletin), event programmes and booklets, leaflets and flyers. 9. Year Book – Deputy Editor of the annual Year Book, a 200+ page hard- backed publication depicting the whole school year. Responsible for managing all aspects of production including collating, writing and editing content; taking and sourcing photographs; costings; timeline schedule; proofing process and printing. 10.Marketing Materials – development and production of all other marketing materials such as stands and displays for exhibitions, powerpoint presentations and branded merchandise. 11.Internal Communications – keep staff informed and engaged via group and one-to-one briefings, meetings and email. 12.Staff Support – support and advise colleagues on communications and marketing issues including media briefings, brand guidance and proof reading. 13.Evaluation – media monitoring; website and social media analysis; marketing questionnaires; marketing prompt via admissions enquiries. Knowledge of: 1. A range of computer systems including Microsoft Office and Photoshop,

6/11/15 2. Website content management systems. 3. Google analytics and other evaluation methods. 4. SEO, SMO, PPC, content marketing, email marketing and digital advertising 5. Latest communication and marketing practices, particularly within the independent schools’ sector. 6. Current issues within the education sector. 7. School policies and procedures.

Ability to: 1. Research and write concise and informative copy using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. 2. Communicate effectively. 3. Build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, projecting a professional, courteous and helpful attitude. 4. Work independently and make informed decisions. 5. Manage a broad workload and meet tight deadlines. 6. Manage external consultants and providers. Experience and Education: 1. Minimum 5 years’ communications/marketing experience preferably in an educational environment, encompassing the representative duties as outlined. 2. Educated to degree level in a communications/marketing related discipline. Environment: 1. Shared office environment. 2. Occasional off site/outdoor environment. Physical Abilities: 1. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone. 2. Seeing to assess visual work. 3. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. 4. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment.

6/11/15 5. Kneeling, bending at the waist and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally in the course of moving supplies and setting up events. 6. Lifting heavy objects up to 10 kilos. Safeguarding and welfare of children The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the role-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer or the Headmaster.

 The receipt of two satisfactory references (if these have not already been received)  Subject to a satisfactory 3-month probationary period  A satisfactory enhanced DBS check and if appropriate, a check of the Barred List maintained by the DBS.  Verification of professional qualifications, where appropriate  If you have worked or been resident overseas, such checks and confirmations as we may consider appropriate so that any relevant events that occurred outside the UK can be considered  Receipt of a satisfactory Medical Declaration Form.

Hours of work Full time – Monday to Friday 0830 to 1700 with 1 hour for lunch.

Salary The salary will be in the region of £22-24K per annum, dependent on experience
