INVERNESS REPORT JANUARY 2017

As always winter months are very quiet and this January was no different! Having said that it wasn’t a bad start to the year with Easyjet Switzerland continuing to send first visits each week and likewise British Airways and KLM were adding to their tally. General Aviation was thin on the ground but an ex Netjet Falcon 7X CS-DSD did manage to make a first visit. The most elegant visitor this month was Legacy D-AJET which is pictured on the cover. As the month drew to a close Ben Air were beginning to wind down their operations as they are about to hand over their mail flights to Loganair following their loss of the contract.

1st: Nothing of note. 2nd: There were a few revellers heading home and we had our first newcomer of 2017 with a visit from ex Netjet Falcon 7X CS-DSD. 3rd: There was nothing of note today. 4th: There was nothing of note. 5th: Today saw the second first visit of the year provided by one of ‘NEW’ Flybe Dash Eights up from Birmingham, and that was all the excitement. 6th: Sprint Air SAAB 340F SP-KPU returned during the night operating the Ben-Air covering for crew sickness with the Shed crews. 7th: Patchy fog at Inverness this morning soon cleared while the fog at Aberdeen sent BAW A319 G-EUPR across for a quick refuel. All six Geneva flights this winter have resulted in Easyjet Switzerland giving a first visit each time with A320 HB-JXA today. This never made it here when previously registered as G-EZUX. 8th: Warm and quiet today. 9th: The only two visitors today were both very regular, Beech 400XP F-HITM and PC-12 PH-DIX. 10th: There was only one non-scheduled visitor today being Ce 560XLS CS-DXF and British Airways sent A320 G-EUUB for its first visit. Following the grounding of all S- 92s as a precaution, based SAR G-MCGI went to Aberdeen tonight for a health check. 11th: Based S-92 G-MCGI returned from its health check at 1052! 12th: Although there were snow showers throughout the day it seemed to be broken SAABS today with G-LGNC and G-LGNE having problems. 13th: BRRRR again with a first visit from BAW A320 G-EUUL. Metro OY-NPD arrived from Aalborg to operate the Ben Air Kirkwall mail flight. It did head up there but strangely did not appear to land. I say strangely since other aircraft seemed to be in and out of there OK. 14th: Easyjet Switzerland did let us down by sending A320 HB-JXB for a second visit but we did get a first visit from SR22 N949AC. 15th: Nothing to report. 16th: Citation CJ2 OO-SKY arrived tonight for a second visit having 1st visited in June 2013. BAW sent another ‘1st visit’ today when A320 G-EUUN arrived from Heathrow.

Metroliner D-CAVA arrived from Cologne early this morning to substitute for the Ben Air Kirkwall flight. 17th: There was one non-scheduled movement, a GAMA ambulance! 18th: It was a very pleasant day with a few more visitors to report including a first visit from Beech 200 G-NIAB on an ambulance flight. F-HITM was substituted by Citation G-COGA which was here for its 3rd visit. 19th: After a trip up to Kirkwall Metro D-CAVA then went back to Cologne and we managed to tick off another EZY A320 with a first visit of G-EZOE from Bristol. 20thth: Ben Air Metro OY-BJP was back early this morning and flew the Kirkwall mails. There was a first visit from Legacy D-AJET and KLM sent E190 PH-EXC for the first visit. 21st: There were first visits from KLM (F70 PH-KZU) and Easyjet Switzerland A320 HB-JXC. The only non scheduled visitor was Ce.T210 G-EEWS. 22nd: There was nothing new today but Dash 8 G-PRPG called for the second time. 23rd: It was very bright and nippy today and we were treated to a very smart King Air, N239KF.

Stopping for fuel on the 23rd was Beech Textron B200GT Super King Air 250.

24th: Today’s Heathrow flight, A320 G-EUUC was taken ill on arrival and spent the day here, The passengers were ‘rescued by A319 G-EUOD tonight and this evening’s Easyjet night-stopper was again cancelled. 25th: The sick BAW A320 from yesterday got away home and Dutch Coastguard Dornier 228 PH-CGN is night-stopping on its 4th visit. 26th: There was still nothing of interest today. 27TH: Same again!

28th: The only visitor was HB-JXG A320 of Easyjet Switzerland here for the first time although the frame made 5 visits as G-EZWN. 29th: Nothing of interest. 30th: An almost blank log. 31st: Loganair SF34 G-LGNM which was last here 05.09.16 returned today following its freighter conversion and joins G-GNTB & ‘TF to take over the mail contract from Ben Air while Sprint Air’s SP-KPV is doing the same from Aberdeen for Loganair.

As is to be expected in winter a very thin turn out! There was one new one for us from Dassault Falcon 7X CS-DSD. Previously operated by Netjets Europe it is now flying with EJME Jet Management.
